Nikke, something’s seriously wrong with this evacuation point! Chapter 163 163: Rose: Don’t Say It
Dorothy narrowed her eyes.
It wasn't that she had never considered the possibility that Liliweiss knew soone important.
But no matter how hard she thought about it, she could never have imagined that person would actually be that Lieutenant Ron.
"Although I really don't want to interrupt this heartwarming scene," she said slowly, "Lieutenant Ron, isn't your relationship with our captain a little too… familiar?"
She originally wanted to say "intimate," but after so consideration, she changed the wording.
Liliweiss froze for a mont, then turned toward Charon. The aning in her eyes was obvious.
'You seriously didn't tell them?'
Charon shrugged and replied with a look of his own.
'Correct.'
Liliweiss felt her eyebrow twitch.
'You're making explain it?'
'Well, who else?'
'I'm their captain!'
'The way you were acting spoiled earlier already destroyed your dignity to so extent.'
'I don't care. Think of sothing!'
The two of them exchanged glances right in front of everyone as if nobody else existed, making Dorothy close her eyes as a headache began forming.
So I've beco part of your flirting ga now, have I?
Subconsciously, she glanced at the blue stain on the corner of her skirt – already a permanent part of her dress now – and an inexplicable irritation rose in her heart.
If you had just announced your relationship with Liliweiss earlier, I wouldn't have humiliated myself like that back then! And now I still owe you a favor that might co crashing down on my head at who-knows-what mont!
Of course, even if soone had told her back then, she probably would've laughed in their face.
What random stinky man thinks he can co here and attach himself to the Goddess Squad?
Fate truly loved playing tricks.
In the end, Liliweiss still lost against Charon in the silent battle. After all, he had literally saved her life. There was no one more suitable than her to tell her own story.
"Alright then. Though I can't guarantee it'll be an especially interesting story. Are you all really that curious?"
Red Hood and Snow White nodded repeatedly.
Rapunzel clasped her hands together, eyes sparkling brightly.
Even the usually reserved Scarlet and Dorothy stared directly at Liliweiss, waiting for her story.
"Where should I begin…" Liliweiss closed her eyes and quietly recalled the past. "I wonder if any of you know about the plane crash that marked humanity losing control of the skies…"
She slowly narrated her past.
Even reaching all the way back to the ti when she was still human.
Not only the Goddess Squad, but even Rose(lee) and the close-combat squad poked their heads out from the kitchen, carefully listening to this neither-short-nor-long tale.
From her personal perspective, Liliweiss recounted how she had been gravely wounded and left on the brink of death, how Charon had saved her, how she beca the strongest Nikke, and most importantly, how she had been sched against by the governnt and nearly died at the orbital elevator.
Charon listened too.
Though honestly, wasn't Liliweiss exaggerating a bit too much while praising him? He didn't rember himself being that incredible.
In Liliweiss's version of the story, he was basically Superman descending from heaven itself. Even in terms of combat, he was invincible beyond reason, while she herself sounded more like so little girl hiding behind him and picking up free achievents.
Charon had to interrupt her several tis just to correct her overblown praise and add the actual details of what happened back then.
After hearing the story, all the Nikkes sank into long silence.
"Whoa… okay, I get it now!" Except for Red Hood.
She jumped straight to her feet, pointed at Charon's face, and shouted excitedly:
"So you're the legendary first lo— ACK, OW! Who kicked ?!"
Snow White calmly withdrew her foot and turned her head away, pretending ignorance.
"So that's why that worldwide signal hijacking happened back then…"
"As expected, the human governnt cannot be trusted." Dorothy curled her lips into a cold smile. "If not for Commander's planning, none of us would even exist. Liliweiss would've beco nothing more than dry bones in a grave… no, not even a grave would've existed."
After hearing the story, she had naturally begun calling Charon "Commander."
And incidentally, nobody was wary of Andersen anymore either. After all, he had appeared in Liliweiss's story too – on the "good guys'" side.
"But that hacker girl… she helped Senpai, she helped the Nikkes so much, so then what happened to her…" Rapunzel looked curiously toward Liliweiss.
But Liliweiss revealed a pained expression.
"S-sorry!" Realizing she had asked the wrong question, Rapunzel almost started crying herself as she apologized frantically.
"No, this is also a good opportunity. You all actually deserve to know about that child." Liliweiss's voice softened, carrying traces of nostalgia in her gaze.
Charon looked like he wanted to say sothing but stopped himself, because at that exact mont, a quiet voice suddenly sounded in his ear.
[Don't say it, okay?]
He instantly understood.
All he could do was smile bitterly inwardly.
So this girl still wanted to tease Liliweiss a little even now?
"I wonder if you still rember," Liliweiss continued, "that occasionally, I would leave the Wings of Victory alone and co around this area."
"Mm." Dorothy rembered it vividly. That ti, Liliweiss had completely ignored everyone and rushed over here by herself.
"The predecessor of the Other Shore Base was once a secret laboratory researching Nikkes. Because of my existence, the governnt wanted to mass-produce versions of – beings with imnse power, long lifespans, and most importantly, obedience."
"And at that ti, the one who volunteered to beco their test subject… was Rose(Sleeping Beauty)."
She slowly swept her gaze across the room.
"Fairy Tale-type Nikke, Unit One, Sleeping Beauty. Because she could not withstand such overwhelming power… she died."
In an instant, the entire room fell silent.
Dorothy's pupils trembled violently.
She knew she herself was Unit Two, but she had always assud Unit One was Liliweiss. Clearly, everyone else had believed the sa thing.
"As you all know," Liliweiss continued quietly, "the governnt wanted to cover up that failure. So they told all of you that I was Fairy Tale-type Unit One instead."
"Among everyone here, only Commander, Colonel Andersen, and I knew this secret."
The mont those words ca out, Dorothy's ntality beca a little unbalanced.
Losing to the Commander was one thing – she had no objections there.
But losing to Andersen too? What kind of nonsense was that?
Still, this truth left a bitter taste in everyone's hearts.
They – including all later Nikkes – had only reached this point because of Sleeping Beauty's sacrifice.
And yet such a noble sacrifice had been completely erased by the governnt.
Although nobody said it aloud, their dissatisfaction toward the Central Governnt deepened further at this mont.
But even more than anger, what they felt was mourning.
Mourning for Sleeping Beauty – the girl whose existence had brought Liliweiss into the world, had brought forth the "Goddess of Victory."
Liliweiss took the lead and closed her eyes.
Everyone else followed, seemingly preparing for three minutes of silent mourning.
Only Charon had already started sweating coldly, his gaze repeatedly darting toward the surveillance cara in the corner of the ceiling.
'Rose, if you don't say sothing soon, the atmosphere's going to beco impossible to salvage!'
