Nikke, something’s seriously wrong with this evacuation point! Chapter 176 176: The Mission of the Second-Generation Fairyt
Recently, the Third Research Institute of Elysium was extrely busy.
Not only because they had to prepare for relocation, but more importantly because the institute had received a new order.
[Queen Decapitation Operation]
In essence, it ant taking advantage of the Ark drawing away the main forces of the Raptures, leaving the orbital elevator's defenses weakened, and sending an elite squad into space to assassinate the Rapture Queen.
Although there was no evidence proving that the Rapture Queen was actually there, the order had still been issued–and it was specifically designated for the Second-Generation Fairytale units.
The mission of the Goddess Squad was to complete the "Ark Guardian" operation. Although they had numbers, they would be facing the main Rapture forces. The Second-Generation Fairytales, on the other hand, were tasked with assassinating the Queen in the chaos. While they would face fewer Raptures, going into space ant a very low chance of return.
Both were extrely high-risk missions.
However, the Second-Generation Fairytale units led by Cinderella did not see any problem with it at all.
"This is… an opportunity to fight alongside that person…"
Cinderella's face was full of admiration, and beside her stood Siren, whose expression was equally intense. As for Hansel and Gretel, they were currently in the simulation room performing final weapon calibrations.
Due to the overwhelming combat strength of the Second-Generation Fairytales, their equipnt was strictly controlled. Without a formal unlocking procedure, even if they obtained the weapons themselves, they would be unable to use them–this was a safeguard to prevent rebellion.
"Who is 'that person'?" asked a small golden-haired girl sitting across from them, her face full of curiosity.
She had a dreamlike appearance, but her legs were not normal–they were red chanical prosthetics that did not match her petite body at all.
She was their youngest sister: Red Shoes.
During the design phase, Red Shoes did not look like this. In fact, even within the Goddess Squad, there was no one with a more ideal body than her at the ti–the designated compatibility candidate back then was Karen.
But now that Karen had long disappeared, after replacing the compatibility candidate, her body proportions had changed drastically while maintaining combat capability.
This girl was now even slightly less developed than little Ana recently adopted by Abe–Snow White was even more curvaceous than her. That was how extre the difference was.
As a combat-specialized unit, Red Shoes' fighting style was modeled after the direction of Liliweiss, but the difference was that she specialized in leg-based combat.
Cinderella's gaze imdiately sharpened slightly.
"Good children shouldn't ask unnecessary questions. That's not soone you should be curious about."
"Huh?" Red Shoes tilted her head in confusion. Clearly, Cinderella had just been full of admiration–was she mistaken?
Even though she was small, Red Shoes was not completely naïve.
"Ah… ah…" Siren tried to say sothing from the side but couldn't get the words out. She even began using sign language, though neither of the others understood what she was gesturing.
"Everyone," at that mont, Abe pushed the door open and entered, holding a docunt with a grim expression. "Cinderella, co with ."
"Yes."
Cinderella obediently stood up. She could tell Abe was not in a good mood, but regardless, she would cooperate with her actions.
In terms of ti spent together, Abe had even known them longer than Charon–but the concept of "first co, first served" didn't really apply here. Fortunately, Abe and Charon's relationship did not require Cinderella to choose between them. She could maintain different relationships with both at the sa ti.
Was there anything more perfect than that?
"Red Shoes, you should listen… uh, never mind. Just play with Siren and don't cause trouble."
Abe was about to say more but rembered Siren couldn't speak freely. She coughed lightly and gave them permission to do as they wished before hurriedly leaving with Cinderella.
"Abe, what exactly happened? It's rare to see you this anxious."
After walking so distance away, Cinderella finally spoke softly.
"You're asking ?" Abe looked at her in disbelief. "Don't you realize they're basically sending you to your deaths?"
"Abe, are you talking about the orbital elevator mission?" Cinderella smiled faintly. "With , Siren, Hansel, Gretel, and Red Shoes–we won't die."
"I know you're strong, and I know the situation at the orbital elevator–but that's space! Even if you manage to kill the Queen, there's a high probability you won't be able to return due to battle damage!"
"Isn't that fine?" Cinderella smiled. "If necessary, I can destroy the space station itself. That would prevent the Raptures from continuing to spawn, wouldn't it?"
"…Cinderella, no–Ana." In the elevator leading underground, Abe's expression turned serious. "Do you think he would be happy with that outco?"
Cinderella froze for a mont, then shook her head.
"I don't know."
"But…"
Before she could continue, the elevator arrived.
Cinderella's attention was imdiately drawn away.
"What is this place?"
It was the first ti she had ever been this deep underground. It was a spacious room filled with supplies, and inside stood a heavily armored, imposing-looking camper vehicle.
"Abe…" Cinderella looked at her in confusion.
"Good, this ti you didn't imdiately suspect I was running away. That's worth praising." Abe walked up to the vehicle and patted its side. "This is a supply cache prepared for you. No matter when you return here, everything here belongs to you. Rember–no matter what happens, you must find Charon. Only he can take you in."
"The governnt's analysis is that the Ark migration operation will be extrely difficult. Only by having you hold off the Queen's attention can they ensure the safe transfer of 'important' personnel and resources into the Ark." Abe's eyes were bloodshot. "They no longer intend to compete for ownership of you. Instead, they've chosen to sacrifice you outright–this way, at least you won't fall into enemy hands."
"Very typical of politicians," Cinderella remarked calmly. Then she tilted her head. "But that has nothing to do with ."
"Politics, humans, Raptures… I don't care about any of that." Cinderella smiled faintly. "He asked to prove myself–to prove that I am a qualified 'Goddess of Victory.' I will do exactly that, and this mission is the best opportunity."
"…You really are sothing." Abe sighed helplessly. "Anyway, that's it. Only I can access this place. Rember the elevator password. You'll be able to retrieve these supplies and use the hidden passage to escape to the surface outside the city."
She pointed toward the far side of the room, where a sealed shutter door stood. Behind it should be the hidden exit.
At that mont, the ground suddenly trembled.
The elevator's permissions were locked instantly.
"Were we discovered?" Cinderella's gaze darkened.
"No, an alarm was triggered upstairs." Abe rushed to the elevator control panel. "Give three minutes. I'll disable the alert."
