Sophie Smith, standing aside, noticed Irene Morton’s unusual behavior.
"What’s wrong?" She walked to Irene’s side, forcefully holding onto Irene’s hands that were tightly gripping her own thighs, preventing her from self-harming.
Irene’s face was pale, convulsing. Sophie suddenly rembered what Asher Land had said not long ago upon seeing her condition.
"Irene, calm down!"
"How do you want to calm down?" Irene’s voice was trembling intensely, "I want to take that stuff right now, you know? You know?" Irene fiercely shook off Sophie’s hands, yelling angrily at her.
"That addiction can be overco. You need to believe in yourself!" Sophie was about to say more, but Irene’s heartrending roar interrupted her.
"Get out! I don’t want you to see like this now!" Irene’s face twisted as she grabbed things from the bathroom and hurled them in Sophie’s direction. Her actions appeared irrational, completely uncontrolled by her own will.
She didn’t intend to take out her frustrations on Sophie, but she ended up throwing one thing after another at her, and Sophie couldn’t dodge, receiving several heavy blows.
Suddenly, she was yanked by a strong force into a broad, warm embrace.
"Asher Land..."
Asher Land frowned as he looked at the chaotic Irene in the bathroom, saying nothing, only shielding Sophie and leading her out of the bathroom.
"Irene is still inside; I’m not feeling at ease..."
"I understand." He replied solemnly, then picked up a towel from the bedside and entered the bathroom.
"Get out! Get out!"
Sophie stood outside the door, listening to the sounds of items being smashed inside along with Irene’s crying and shouting. Sophie pushed at the bathroom door, but it was locked, and she beca anxious.
With a slight exertion of his large hand, Asher Land directly lifted the noisy, irrational Irene out of the bathtub. He casually wiped her body with a towel and then wrapped her in a bathrobe.
"Let go! Let go!" Irene punched and kicked at him, but she couldn’t match his strength.
He used just one hand to restrain her wrists, holding them firmly without an ounce of rcy.
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and Asher Land carried Irene out.
"Bring the handcuffs over." He said to Sophie, who was standing by.
Sophie didn’t hesitate, ran out, and quickly brought the handcuffs. Asher Land cuffed her hands to the headboard, stopping Irene’s self-harm.
"This approach...can’t be the solution." Sophie looked at the suffering Irene, feeling unsettled inside.
"She’ll be sent to rehab tomorrow." Asher Land’s face was indifferent, his voice icy. Seeing his attitude, Irene’s heart sank into despair.
"I don’t want to go to rehab, I don’t want to go..."
"It’s for your own good." Asher Land walked slowly to Irene, lowered his gaze, "As long as you cooperate, you can definitely quit. I bet you wouldn’t want to ruin your life with those things, right?"
"Brother Asher, don’t send there, please. I just need you with ; if you’re by my side, I’ll have faith. I can definitely quit..." Irene’s words were sowhat illogical, speaking intermittently, and Sophie seed to understand her ssage.
