It was already late when Sophie Smith got into the car holding Alexander, fixing his clothes and fastening his seatbelt.
"Mommy, do you think Dad will be mad when he sees I ca back?" Alexander was a bit worried. After all, it was Asher Land who sent him to Uncle Luke’s place, and now, without his permission, he ca back on his own. He was really concerned that Asher Land would be angry.
"Are you afraid of him?" Sophie always felt that sotis, even when Asher Land didn’t do anything, Alexander was still very scared.
"Actually, your dad is not that scary. If you just tell him your thoughts clearly, he will listen," Sophie patiently counseled Alexander, "For example, if you don’t want to stay at Uncle Luke’s house, just tell him directly, and he will agree with you."
Really?
Alexander questioned himself inwardly. In his heart, Asher Land wasn’t that kind of person. However, Alexander didn’t refute Sophie; he listened to her words and planned to try communicating with Asher Land when he got back.
Sophie smoothly drove back ho. Outside, it was dark and the wind and snow were fierce. The weather and traffic conditions were terrible, and she had been stuck in city traffic for over an hour...
Alexander had already fallen asleep against the car window. Sophie lingered in the car for a little while. As she was about to get out to carry Alexander out, she noticed in the darkness a tall figure moving against the car lights, approaching her direction.
It was Asher Land.
"It’s snowing outside, why did you co out!" Sophie quickly opened the car door and went out.
"You go inside first. I’ll carry Alexander in," Asher Land temporarily set aside the bla for her coming back so late, opened the passenger seat door, lifted Alexander out, and headed towards the hall. Sophie walked alongside him.
"Sister Sophie, you’re back." As soon as Sophie stepped into the hall, Irene Morton approached with a seemingly good mood. Indeed, the daily counseling of a psychiatrist couldn’t compare to a day of Asher Land’s company.
"Brother Asher was really worried about you, calling you but you didn’t pick up."
He called her? Sophie hesitantly took her phone out of her bag, turned it on, and saw the screen was black—it turned out it had died.
"I didn’t intentionally ignore your call, my phone was out of battery." Sophie held out her phone to show Asher Land, as if explaining herself.
"Yes, Dad, don’t bla Mommy. I was the one clinging to her today, that’s why she ca ho late, and it was my decision to co back, not Mommy’s..." Alexander said softly while nestled in Asher Land’s arms.
"Did I say I was going to bla you?" Asher Land stroked Alexander’s little head. His image always ca off as too stern and harsh, making him fearful, unable to speak properly. At this age, shouldn’t most kids be playfully coy and capricious?
Sophie gave Alexander an encouraging look, as if prompting him to communicate more with Asher Land.
After a pause, Alexander suddenly pressed his moist little lips gently against Asher Land’s cheek.
Oh my, Alexander actually kissed Asher Land!
Nanny Garcia and Sophie were so surprised their mouths couldn’t close. Honestly, even Asher Land was thoroughly shocked for a mont before he gathered his thoughts.
