It was already very late, Asher Land was sitting in the living room, still not looking like he was going to sleep.
"Young Master, Miss Smith probably has sothing to do and won’t be coming back tonight, you should rest first." Nanny Garcia stood at one side, glanced at the quiet night outside, and said softly.
"I’m not waiting for her, what does it matter to where she goes?" Asher Land took a sip of coffee, trying to keep his mind clear.
Nanny Garcia sighed inwardly, anyone with eyes could see he was saying one thing and aning another, but her young master had a sharp tongue but a soft heart.
"Young Master,..."
"You don’t have to worry about , go and rest. Oh, and turn on all the lights outside the villa."
Nanny Garcia responded and did as Asher Land instructed.
That night was particularly hard for Asher Land; it seed he had gotten used to the days she was there every night.
He glanced anxiously at the wall clock, it was already ten past two in the morning, and for the sake of that woman, he was uncharacteristically suffering from insomnia.
Irene Morton, with her arms crossed, stood upstairs, looking dazedly at him downstairs.
He hadn’t slept all night, and neither had she.
She walked down the stairs lightly, and Asher Land, hearing the sound, turned his head in surprise.
"Why aren’t you asleep?" His voice had a slight rasp.
"Can’t sleep, wanted to find sothing to eat." Irene Morton stuck out her tongue at him, pretending to be nonchalant.
She ran to the kitchen, rummaged around for a while, and finally ca back with a large pile of food, sitting beside him.
"You don’t mind if I eat here next to you, do you?"
He shook his head.
He was absent-minded all along, and Irene Morton tried to start a conversation with him a few tis, but he brushed her off with a few casual words.
"Brother Asher, I know you miss Sister Sophie. How about I call her?" Irene asked tentatively.
"I’m just suffering from insomnia, but not because of her." Asher Land still refused to admit it.
Irene ignored him, directly picked up his phone, and dialed Sophie Smith’s number. Although the call went through, it rang about ten tis without anyone answering.
Asher Land’s face gradually turned grim.
"Looks like Sister Sophie doesn’t want to answer your call." Irene made a face at him and took out her own phone.
"Do you believe ? If I call her, she’ll definitely pick up."
"It’s so late, she’s probably asleep. You shouldn’t call her."
To be honest, deep down he was unsure.
Irene Morton didn’t listen to him and went ahead and dialed the number. The call rang for a long ti, but still, Sophie Smith didn’t pick up.
Asher Land breathed a sigh of relief, but the next second,...
Sophie Smith answered the phone.
"Irene, do you need sothing?" Her voice sounded a bit tired, even weak.
"Oh!" Irene forgot to glance at Asher Land with a smug smile, "Sister Sophie, where are you right now?"
"I’m at the old apartnt."
"Why didn’t you co back today? And why didn’t you answer Brother Asher’s call?"
Asher Land held his breath, waiting for her answer. Why wouldn’t she specifically answer his call?
On the other end, Sophie Smith was silent for a long ti, and after a while, she spoke.
"I didn’t want to see him."
She didn’t know why, but today was indeed a nightmare for her, one of the worst days of her life.
Hearing this answer nearly made Asher Land explode with fury.
Not want to see him?
Really sothing.
Irene’s face clearly showed a schadenfreude expression. After Asher Land glared at her sharply, she sensibly stopped.
"Sister Sophie, you should get so rest, I won’t disturb you anymore." With that, Irene hung up the phone.
"See, you’re not that important in Sister Sophie’s heart." Irene seriously added.
