Sophie Smith didn’t know if she was truly mad at Asher Land.
At first, when she found out he was the mastermind behind Wyatt Sterling’s scandal, she was furious, but later, when she learned the real reason behind her mother’s suicide in Southern County, it seed she cald so of her anger towards him.
For the past four years, she had always blad the Golden Era Consortium for her mother’s death, but the truth was, it was his father who cheated first, along with the stepmother, doing unspeakable things.
So, perhaps the reason she eased her anger towards him was because she felt a bit guilty for wrongly blaming him.
Her head rested on his broad arm, and she took a deep breath from the bottom of her heart.
"Just sleep peacefully."
He noticed her exhaustion, though he didn’t know what had happened, but he hoped that when she was by his side, she could let her guard down.
Sophie nodded, and before long, he could hear her even breathing.

Sophie had a schedule in the morning, so she didn’t sleep for long.
She looked at herself in the mirror, and she was indeed quite disheveled. Her eyes were terribly swollen, her complexion pale, as if she had been soaked in water.
Asher Land opened the bathroom door and looked at her standing dazed in front of the mirror, unable to help but frown.
"Do I look ugly now?" Sophie gave a bitter smile at the corner of her mouth. Although she loved going makeup-free, when in front of Asher Land, she was always at least exquisitely put together, but this was the first ti she allowed herself to be like this.
Ugly? How could that be? In his eyes, her status was absolutely the highest.
"Are you questioning my taste?" Asher Land raised an eyebrow and smiled slightly.
"What?"
"My woman is certainly the best in my heart."
He said, my woman is certainly the best in my heart.
To say she wasn’t moved would be a lie, because when you think everyone has excluded you, you find affirmation.
She lowered her eyes, and it was evident that there was a trace of sadness in her mood.
"If Wyatt Sterling is willing to accept my help, then I will help him solve his problems." His voice was flat, yet he was willing to help Wyatt Sterling?
"So, you better put away that sullen mood."
Turns out he thought her low spirits were because of Wyatt Sterling, so he was willing to help Wyatt for her.
"I’m not upset because of that matter, though I’m very grateful if you’re willing to help Wyatt Sterling." She spoke courteously.
"Then why are you unhappy?"
A woman’s heart is like a needle at the bottom of the sea; her thoughts are truly hard to fathom.
Her unhappiness was rely because of that broken ho of hers.
"It’s getting late, I have to go to the company, I have a schedule this morning." Sophie deliberately changed the subject.
"I’ll take you there."
"No need."
After hearing Sophie’s refusal, Asher Land’s face imdiately darkened.
Sophie thought for a mont but then changed her mind, "You can drop off near the company."
Of course, she was afraid of people discovering her relationship with Asher Land, but soone was in a bad mood now.
Asher Land dropped her off at the company entrance, and just as Sophie was about to get out of the car, he pulled her back.
"Is there anything else?"
He domineeringly pulled her body close to him, and then a gentle, honey-sweet kiss swept over her.
After a long mont, Asher Land finally let her go.
Sophie bit her lip; this man had taken advantage of her first thing in the morning.
"Alright, now there’s nothing else."
