She said, "In this lifeti, I can’t possibly love him."
Upon hearing this, Wyatt Sterling’s expression softened slightly, yet he remained calm. He took a sip of his coffee and then refocused his gaze on her.
"A lifeti is so long, isn’t it a bit too early to say such things?"
Sophie Smith couldn’t understand why Wyatt Sterling insisted on lingering on the topic of Asher Land with her. Several tis she attempted to change the subject, only to be drawn back by him.
"Loving soone isn’t as simple as you think." She took a deep breath from the bottom of her heart before speaking the next words, "I’m not crazy, how could I fall in love with a man who fantasizes about imprisoning and tornting himself?"
It was her first ti being so candid about her feelings in front of soone, and after she spoke, she felt a hint of regret; how could she share such deeply buried emotions so freely?
But opposite her was Wyatt Sterling, the one who had always been attentive to her in the film crew, who had accompanied her through difficult tis, and who appeared whenever she needed him. What more did she need to hold back?
Sophie’s distraction was evident to Wyatt, and he shifted the conversation away from Asher Land and onto other topics.
"By the way, I’m planning to move behind the scenes as a producer. If the opportunity arises in the future, would you be willing to collaborate with as my leading lady?" He asked the question with a fitting smile, making it seem like he wasn’t forcing or compelling her overly.
"Of course, I’d be willing." She blurted out.
She didn’t want to ask anything else; she simply replied with those four straightforward words.
The two chatted in the cafe for a long while. Wyatt checked the ti and, realizing it might disrupt her work, offered to take her to the company.
"I drove myself here, so there’s no need to trouble you, Senior Brother."
"Alright, take care on your way." He casually and gently reminded her, then watched as Sophie Smith departed.
Once she was out of sight, he took out his phone from his pocket and pressed the stop button on the recording.
I know I’m just his mistress. One day, if he grows tired of seeing , or loses interest in my body, he might cast aside. So, in such a situation, could I ever be happy?
In this lifeti, I can’t possibly love him.
Loving soone isn’t as simple as you think.
I’m not crazy, how could I fall in love with a man who fantasizes about imprisoning and tornting himself?
Her voice flowed steadily into his ears from the phone, and as he listened, his lips gradually curved upwards.
...
Sophie drove a distance before stopping her car.
Truth be told, she was sowhat curious about the phone call she had just hung up on. She rummaged through her bag for her phone to check the missed call.
Sure enough, it was from Asher Land.
She hesitated for quite a while before finally deciding to return the call.
"You called earlier when I was busy at work, so I couldn’t answer your call," she explained formally before he could speak.
"Hmm." He responded casually.
"Are you busy now too? If so, I won’t bother you."
"Do you have ti at noon?"
She hadn’t hung up yet when she heard him ask.
Do I or don’t I?
She wasn’t sure what he wanted, so she hesitated in her response.
"It’s just a simple question; why take so long to decide? Do you have ti or not?" He asked with an intensified tone.
"I suppose I do." She replied calmly.
