"Miss Smith, you’re truly beautiful. I’m a fan of yours. Could you sign an autograph for ?" A girl walked over, holding a pen and a piece of paper, swiftly approaching her.
Sophie Smith did not refuse and quickly signed her na on the paper.
"Miss Sophie Smith, could you sign for too?"
"Miss Sophie Smith, can we take a picture together?" The crowd sward around, encircling her in the center, leaving her unable to move.
"I’m sorry, today it’s a bit inconvenient." She smiled slightly, trying to step out of the crowd. After all, at this mont, it was not suitable for her to make a public appearance.
The door to the CEO’s office suddenly opened, and everyone stopped what they were doing, uniformly looking towards the doorway.
Oliver Johnson, dressed impeccably in a suit, appeared in front of her. His thin lips were pressed into a line, and his cold eyes swept over the group of people with their heads lowered.
"What’s the commotion during working hours?"
The originally chattering crowd imdiately fell silent. Oliver Johnson walked up to the flustered Sophie Smith, took her hand, and pulled her into his office.
Everyone stared at the closed door, looking at each other in surprise. After a while, they ca to their senses, exchanged a few words, and dispersed.
Inside the office.
Oliver Johnson’s lips held a slight smile as he looked at her ’friendly.’
"Why are you looking for ?" He couldn’t have imagined she would co to the company to find him. He wondered why she ca to see him.
Christopher Smith, or Eva Miller?
"Why did you do that to Eva?"
Sure enough, he hadn’t guessed wrong.
"Miss Smith, are you settling scores with after the fact? A one-night stand is common; mutual consent, why can’t it happen?" He still wore a smile, gentle and humble.
"Oliver Johnson, why have you changed so much?" She helplessly curved her lips, "You weren’t like this before."
Before?
"Miss Smith, the reason you feel I’ve changed is because you never really knew before."
It seems he needs to give her a lesson.
"You’re too trusting of people, which doesn’t benefit you."
"Yes, because I trusted you, so? You’ve taken my trust as a tool for your exploitation?"
He was silent, not looking into her eyes.
"Answer , wasn’t your initial intention in approaching to use ?" Her voice wasn’t loud, not accusing, but rather calm.
"Not at the beginning." He spoke for himself, well, if she wanted a sincere explanation, he could give it to her.
"Then when was it?"
"When I realized you were too important to Asher Land."
Sophie Smith’s body stiffened slightly. What did he an by ’when I realized you were too important to Asher Land’?
She frowned, as if pondering what he had said.
"Don’t overthink it. I an, only you can be used as a bargaining chip to threaten Asher Land, so..."
He spoke plainly, without any concealnt.
"If it weren’t for Asher Land, I wouldn’t do anything to wrong you..."
"Oliver Johnson, are you even a man?" Her words carried a hint of sarcasm, "If you’re truly capable, why don’t you openly compete with Asher Land? Threatening soone, what skill is that?"
"Ha, openly, do you think Asher Land is a gentleman?"
She was indeed a bit naive; in the business world, where every move is calculated, there’s no such thing as being above board.
