"In front of in the future, talk less about Irene." Asher Land interrupted her impatiently.
At the Land Family’s old mansion, he truly felt like he was going insane.
Sophie Smith noticed the irritation on Asher’s face. He stayed at Nathan Land’s place for so long, surely nothing good happened.
Suddenly, Oscar Land’s words again invaded her mind.
He said, "My legs were ruined because of a woman. I don’t want Asher to end up like one day."
"Big brother, his leg..." she began with difficulty, noticing Asher Land’s evasive gaze as soon as she uttered those words.
"How did his leg beco like that?"
She pretended to know nothing as she questioned him.
"Car accident, accidentally hit." He seed to have co up with this lie in just a second.
"Oh..." She didn’t ask further. Since he didn’t want her to know the truth, why should she expose him?
Yet, the panic in her heart grew more intense, as if it wanted to consu every part of her.
Irene Morton ca out after her shower and lingered in their room for a while.
In the master bedroom, perhaps the servants hadn’t had ti to clean, as the intimate atmosphere still lingered.
The shirt tossed on the floor, the seductive bra on the bed, and the sowhat ssy bedding...
Irene felt as if her heart was stabbed hard.
Since she was young, she had a steadfast idea, which was, she had to beco Asher Land’s woman.
No matter how many won he had before, she didn’t care.
Just like now, even if he loved the woman nad Sophie Smith, even if he had a child with her, as long as he was willing to marry her, she wouldn’t mind it all.
But now, Asher Land felt so unfamiliar to her.
He rarely even called her Irene anymore, his tone always carried a sense of estrangent and rejection.
She was always cherished, but now, with Asher, she experienced cold neglect.
The more she thought about it, the more unwilling she felt. Her hands clenched tightly, her nails deeply embedded into her skin.
As Asher Land carried Sophie Smith into the room, Irene was still standing by their bed, lost in thought.
Asher assud that after such a long ti, Irene must have finished her shower and gone to her room to rest, but unexpectedly, she was still there.
"Finished your shower?" Asher asked casually.
Sophie noticed the room’s ssy state and felt sowhat embarrassed; she gave Asher a look, signaling for him to let her down.
"Yes, finished washing. I’ll leave now and not disturb you." Irene said and then rushed out.
"I forgot to tidy up the room." Sophie said awkwardly, just starting to pick up the clothes on the floor when he grabbed her.
"That’s the servant’s job, you don’t need to worry about it."
His gaze also fell on the ss on the bed, and when he looked down at her, he saw a blush flash across her face.
"How about we continue what we didn’t finish earlier? Hmm?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"No, what if later..."
Before she could finish, he had already gone to the door and locked it.
"There will be no ’later’." He curved his lips and then walked towards her.
"But, but, I feel like the room’s soundproofing,..."
"The soundproofing is bad?" His smile deepened, "Then just call out quietly."
