"Irene, there’s no possibility between us. Give it up." Asher Land made it clear. Even if the old man was pressuring him at every step, he would never compromise.

"You!" Irene’s face turned pale, obviously angered by his words.
"Alright, then I’ll tell you the first secret I overheard in the study." Irene gathered her out-of-control emotions and spoke calmly, "At today’s birthday banquet, Uncle Land will announce the news of our engagent."
Engagent?
Seeing his obviously stiff expression, a surge of pleasure rose in her heart.
Announcing it in front of so many people, Asher Land couldn’t back out even if he wanted to. With Nathan Land’s ans and ways, he would never allow Asher to embarrass him by saying ’no’ in front of so many people.
Asher suddenly thought of the way Sophie Smith smiled at him, realizing that she had known everything, yet she was still pretending that nothing was wrong in front of him.
"Brother Asher, do you want to hear the second secret?" She leaned closer, the smile on her lips growing more pronounced.
The second secret was that Sophie Smith would leave him, and Nathan Land would not let her go and would take her life.
"Tell ," he said word by word.
"Sorry, Brother Asher, my throat hurts a bit now, I don’t want to say it."
His fists were clenched tightly, being toyed by Irene like this truly infuriated him.
"Irene, don’t make say it a second ti!"
Heh, was he angry? She couldn’t believe he would call her Irene?
"Brother Asher, don’t yell at . What if I forget what I was going to say when you yell?" She sat on the sofa, picked up a wine glass, and took a leisurely sip of red wine, "This is related to Sister Sophie’s life, you know?"

He threw her to the corner of the wall, his large hand grasping her fair neck, pinning her body against the cold wall.
"Do you believe I could strangle you right now?"
