Eva Miller was directly taken to a Western restaurant by Luke Land.
"Didn’t get full with you, so I can only co here to grab a bite."
"..." Eva Miller was at a loss for words.
Luke Land picked up the nu and handed it to her.
"What do you want to eat?"
"You decide." For once, the two of them had a kind of polite mutual respect.
Luke Land casually picked a few dishes from the nu and handed it to the waiter.
"Your boyfriend’s in jail?" Suddenly, Luke Land asked.
Eva Miller was taken aback for a mont, then nodded after a while.
"What did he do?" Luke Land seed interested in everything about her.
"Fell for soone he shouldn’t have." Eva Miller thought for a mont and answered word by word.
Yes, if Oliver Johnson didn’t have feelings for Sophie Smith, he wouldn’t feel guilty about Christopher Smith’s death, nor would he take all the bla on himself.
"That’s a cri too?" Luke Land took a sip of wine, not in a hurry to sigh, "What kind of laws do you have over there?"
Clearly, Luke Land didn’t care for the implication in her words, but she didn’t bother explaining to soone she’d only t twice; let him interpret it as he may.
After finishing the al, the conversation between them was surprisingly sparse, though one might’ve expected more argunt from them.
"You seem to have drunk a bit too much, can you still drive?" Eva Miller asked Luke Land.
She didn’t know what was up with Luke Land, but he had been drinking heavily at dinner and now couldn’t even stand straight.
Luke Land tossed the car keys to her, promptly settling into the passenger seat.
He leaned against the seat back, eyes closed, brows furrowed, looking sowhat pained.
"You did this to yourself, drinking so much for what?" Eva Miller mumbled a few words and then got into the car.
She started the car, preparing to take Luke Land back to the Land Family.
When the car stopped at the Land Family’s place, Luke Land was already asleep. As Eva Miller was pondering how to get him to his room, she happened to run into a familiar face.
"President Land!" She waved enthusiastically.
Asher Land saw that it was Eva Miller, then walked over and saw Luke Land fast asleep in the car.
"He got drunk?"
"Yes, President Land."
"Did he do anything to you?"
"Hmm?"
Asher Land rembered that Luke Land had ntioned having an interest in Eva. Seeing the two return together and knowing he’d been drinking, he wondered if Luke had done anything inappropriate. If he had, how would he explain it to Sophie Smith?
Eva Miller considered Asher Land’s question, thinking it sounded like he was concerned about her!
"Oh, President Land, don’t worry, I’m fine." Eva laughed foolishly, surprised that Asher Land would be concerned about her. It was quite flattering.
"Alright, as long as you’re okay." Asher Land also sighed in relief, opened the car door, and helped Luke Land out.
"Thank you for bringing him back."
"No problem at all, it was the right thing to do, an honor really..." Eva Miller didn’t know why, but whenever she was in front of Asher Land, she couldn’t help but flatter him. There was no helping it, Asher Land had such a high-status deanor, she just instinctively did it...
Seeing Asher Land walk away, Eva Miller finally ca to her senses.
She sat in the car, looking at the car keys in her hand...
Was she going to drive his car away again? She didn’t want to, but without a car, would she have to walk back?
"Forget it, I’ll explain to him next ti."
