Sophie Smith’s face quickly flushed red, burning hotly, feeling like she couldn’t breathe.
She hung her head low, wishing she could find a hole to crawl into. Her body was stiff as she sat there, pressing her lips together. Anyone could see the panic and unease in her heart at that mont.
Irene Morton smirked and continued speaking slowly, adding fuel to the fire.
"Sister Sophie, you must have been feeling empty for too long. It’s understandable you have desires, but you should also consider how we feel. Last night, you didn’t stop for a mont, did you? Could it be that Brother Asher served you well?"
Irene wasn’t saying this for Sophie Smith to hear. She simply wanted others to know that, despite Miss Smith’s demure and charming appearance, she was nothing more than a shaless woman in private.
Sure enough, after hearing Irene’s words, the servants passing by in the restaurant lowered their heads, with various expressions on their faces.
So looked full of disdain, while others had twitching mouths, seeming to stifle laughter.
Faced with Irene’s exaggeration, Sophie Smith found herself montarily speechless.
Perhaps discussing such topics at the dining table was indeed a shaful matter.
"Hey, Irene, you can’t place all the bla on Sophie. It’s not entirely her responsibility, right?" Luke Land wanted to stand up and say a fair word for Sophie Smith, but his way of speaking, with his intelligence and personality, only made the situation more awkward.
"Sophie was just having a natural reaction. Speaking of which, when you sleep with soone, don’t you make sounds?"
"..."
Silence.
Dead silence.
Under the table, Eva Miller’s foot, clad in high heels, viciously stomped on Luke Land’s foot.
Luke Land’s face instantly turned a liver color, yet in this quiet atmosphere, he dared not make a sound.
"Have you had enough of this joke?" Asher Land, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke. He slamd the coffee cup in his hand hard onto the table, and so still-hot coffee splashed out, landing on the cuff of his white shirt.
The people in the restaurant instantly fell silent, not daring to make a sound, knowing that Asher Land was angry.
"Can’t stand to be talked about?" Irene mumbled softly, "Last night, Sister Sophie was really noisy..."
"Shut up!" Asher Land suddenly shouted sternly, causing Irene’s shoulders to shake. The spoon in her hand slipped and fell into the porridge.
Irene truly didn’t dare say another word. If she continued, Asher Land might really embarrass her in front of everyone.
Sophie Smith felt that her dignity was utterly shattered, with nothing left of it early in the morning.
Her chest felt tight, her eyes reddened uncontrollably, but she still forced herself not to cry.
Suddenly, the hand hanging by her side was pulled up, and with significant force, she was led to stand up.
Asher Land held her hand and walked briskly out of the restaurant.
The people in the restaurant exchanged glances, keeping silent with a tacit understanding.
About two minutes later, Eva Miller slapped the table and stood up, glaring at Irene with murderous intent in her eyes.
"Tell , what did Sophie ever do to offend you? Why do you always target her? Is it just because she can win over President Land?" She snorted, "President Land isn’t blind; why would he be interested in a jealous woman like you?"
