In the hall, only the two brothers of the Land Family remained.
The atmosphere was sowhat quiet. Asher Land reached out to take a cigarette and lit it up. Before bringing it to his lips, he heard Luke’s sowhat worried voice.
"Do you really think you’re in good health right now?"
Either smoking or drinking, truly walking down a path of self-destruction.
Asher’s fingers stiffened slightly. The cigarette reached his mouth, yet he didn’t continue with the next action.
He naturally knew his health was poor. It’s just that when he felt frustrated with no outlet, he wanted to casually find a way to vent.
Of course, Luke could also see Asher’s thoughts.
"By the way, if you’re in a bad mood you could find a woman to vent with. You didn’t before because you didn’t want to sleep with anyone other than Sophie Smith, but now that you’re back in Eastern City, why not go find her?"
"Shut up." Asher extinguished the cigarette, lazily leaning against the sofa, "She’s not my tool for venting."
"Oh, you’re pretending to be virtuous now?" Luke chuckled softly. Seeing this ’gentlemanly’ side of Asher was truly rare.
Hmm, in Luke’s mind, he always thought Asher was just like him. He really didn’t understand why Asher could manage Sophie Smith, yet he couldn’t manage Eva Miller.
"I’m no worse than you, not much older, not uglier, and my skills in bed rival yours too. So why does Little Chili hate so much?"
Asher gave his second brother a look full of exasperation, a look that scread ’beyond redemption.’
"By the way, is there any progress on the matter?" Asher suddenly spoke, referring to the turmoil at the Golden Era press conference.
Why were there suddenly so many onlookers at a press conference that was only supposed to invite the dia?
And where did those gunshots co from?
"Don’t rush, the matter is still under investigation." Luke’s expression was a bit troubled, "The person who fired at the press conference... escaped, but as long as he’s not dead, there’s still a chance to find out the truth."
Asher was thoughtful, "Why do I feel this person is related to the one who tried to assassinate last ti?"
While in the United States, he had encountered a shootout and fortunately escaped unscathed. They captured three of the adversaries alive, but no matter the harsh interrogations, they refused to reveal the mastermind behind the scenes.
In the end, they committed suicide.
"Tell big brother to keep a closer watch on Enzo Land at the European Headquarters over there, I feel... this matter is linked to him."
Asher said each word deliberately.
"Linked to Enzo Land?" Luke found it unbelievable, "Even if he tried to assassinate you, he actually caused chaos at the Golden Era press conference? He’s still a mber of the Land Family, right? How could he do sothing so damaging to the Land Family’s and the Golden Era Consortium’s reputation?"
"Hah, stop daydreaming. Ever since we forged the will and took over the Golden Era Consortium from the old man, Enzo Land’s heart was no longer here. He’d rather bring Golden Era down with him and et the old man underground than watch it grow and flourish in our hands."
"If it turns out that Enzo Land is the mastermind, I will make him suffer!" Luke said through gritted teeth.
"We’ll see by then. If it really is him..."
How would ’making him suffer’ be so simple? Asher Land would make him wish for death over life, unable to live in peace nor die.
