"Mr. Davis, I’m sorry for making you worry..." Sophie Smith shifted slightly inward to make room, allowing Nolan Davis to co in.
Nolan Davis was only relieved when he saw that she was okay.
He sat down on the sofa, crossed his long legs, and glanced at her as if exploring sothing.
"Have you been crying?"
Noticing her red eyes, Nolan Davis couldn’t help but frown.
"Um, aren’t you going to work today?" She attempted to change the subject, but this shift only made her more embarrassed. It was obvious that he had co to see her, putting aside his work, yet she was asking him, ’Aren’t you going to work today?’—it was just bringing trouble upon herself.
As expected, Nolan Davis didn’t say anything.
The two of them remained silent. After a while, Nolan Davis glanced at his watch; it was lunchti. Her kitchen was clean and tidy, without any ingredients.
"Let’s go, I’ll take you to eat." He stood up, and just as he was about to move, he heard Sophie Smith’s muffled voice.
"Can I not eat? I... I can’t eat..."
"No." His response was crisp and clear. He took her hand and led her downstairs.
He pressed the elevator button, and during the two-minute wait, Sophie Smith seed a little distracted.
"Is sothing wrong with Third Young Master Land?"
"Hmm?" Sophie Smith looked up in surprise.
"Don’t look at with that ’How did you know’ expression." Nolan Davis chuckled softly, "After these years of getting to know you, I dare say I understand you."
Sophie Smith lowered her head. Indeed, over the past four years, Nolan Davis had shown her so much care and concern. He had quietly integrated himself into her life.
Nolan Davis was ready to take Sophie Smith to a restaurant, but her phone rang while they were still in the car.
Sophie Smith took out her phone, and upon seeing who was calling, she couldn’t hide her excitent.
"Robert, has he woken up?"
"Yes." Robert Williams’ voice seed much lower, "He woke up an hour ago. The doctor checked him, and there’s no longer any issue, Miss Smith, you don’t need to worry."
Sophie Smith wanted to say more, but Robert hurriedly hung up the call.
Letting Sophie Smith know about Asher Land’s hospitalization was sothing Asher Land had forbidden. Now here he was conveying Asher Land’s condition to her, and once Asher found out, he would surely fly into a rage.
"Mr. Davis, I really won’t go to eat; I have to go to the hospital."
Sophie Smith looked at Nolan Davis with urgency, seemingly pleading with him.
Nolan Davis knew that in Sophie Smith’s heart, Asher Land’s matters were of the utmost importance. He certainly wouldn’t stop her.
He steadily parked the car by the roadside. Sophie Smith opened the car door and ran outside quickly, catching a cab afterward.
Watching her hurriedly departing figure, he managed a bitter smile.
He thought, no matter how many more fours years pass, he would still hold no sway in her heart.
...
Sophie Smith quickly arrived at the hospital. She precisely found Asher Land’s room, and before she even entered, she heard a loud noise from within.
It was the sound of glass breaking, mixed with a burst of shouting.
"Who told you to let her co over?"
"President Land, we didn’t disclose your hospitalization to Miss Smith, ..." Robert Williams lowered his head. Indeed, he wasn’t the one who leaked the news.
