"Brother Asher, why are you losing your temper with us?" Irene’s eyes showed a hint of grievance, "I don’t know where Sister Sophie got the information from, why are you blindly judging?"
"Miss Morton!" Robert saw Irene talking back to Asher Land and imdiately stepped in to stop her.
"Get out, all of you!" Asher Land was in a terrible mood; the thought of her possibly seeing him in such a bedridden state made him inexplicably uncomfortable.
Sophie Smith hesitated for a mont but still pushed the door open and entered.
Inside the ward, everyone’s gaze fell in her direction. She froze at the door for a while, unable to move.
Asher Land’s face looked even more strained upon seeing her.
"Are you... feeling better?" She spoke softly, her tone sowhat hesitant, as she clutched her small hands, not daring to et his eyes.
Even if he had been brimming with anger a mont ago, upon seeing her, he found himself with no outlet for his temper.
"Sister Sophie, just look—because of you, Robert and I have endured so much undue grievance." A hint of displeasure flashed across Irene’s face, intending to mock Sophie further, but she was interrupted by Asher Land.
"You all go out first."
"I..."
"Out."
Irene shot Sophie two resentful glances before reluctantly heading outside.
Following closely behind, Robert left the room, leaving only the two of them in the ward.
"Asher Land, it was my fault that night; I didn’t realize your condition was so serious. I failed to notice..." Sophie began by confessing her mistakes to him, not entirely sure why she felt this way. "Also, it really wasn’t Irene and Robert who told about your hospitalization, please don’t bla them..."
"Sophie," Asher Land spoke coldly, "You’re really quite naggy."
"Hmm?" Sophie seed to recall that he was still a patient, and the thing patients need most is quiet.
"Sorry, I won’t speak anymore."
Asher Land shook his head helplessly. Seeing himself like this, making her feel guilty and obedient, was definitely not what he wanted.
A wry smile appeared at the corner of his mouth as he lowered his head slightly, no longer looking at her standing at the door.
Sophie walked in, closed the door, and ca over to his bedside.
"Why are you so afraid of letting see you like this now?"
Actually, she knew it was his inner pride at work, yet she still asked the question.
Asher Land didn’t answer her, turning his head toward the window.
"Do you think I can’t accept you as you are now?" Seeing him ignoring her, Sophie moved to his side.
"Asher Land, what do you an?"
It had been so long since she last sulked or argued with him, but this ti she was truly angry—very angry.
"What do I an?" He chuckled lightly, a weak smile playing at his lips, "Sophie, do you really want to know what I an?"
Her body stiffened. She had a hunch that whatever he was about to say, it wouldn’t be what she wanted to hear.
"Right now, I don’t want to hear you nag in front of , nor do I want you here bothering . Can you leave and let have so peace?"
"You..." Sophie trembled, "You want to drive away?"
"Yes, leave here imdiately!" he pointed toward the door, his voice tinged with anger.
