He put down his bowl and chopsticks, pulled out the chair, and prepared to go upstairs.
As a reflex, Irene Morton blocked his way.
"If you have sothing to say, let’s talk in the room." He didn’t want to argue with Irene in front of Sophie Smith; he could never control what Irene might say next, and so words could definitely hurt Sophie.
"Go back to the room?" Irene deliberately curved her lips into an innocent smile, pretending to look pitiful, "Brother Asher, are you going to assault again?"
Irene spoke without thinking, purposefully distorting the facts.
Assault?
Sophie looked up, casting a glance at Asher Land, only to see his expression growing increasingly unpleasant.
"Watch what you say, have I ever touched you?" Asher Land really couldn’t handle Irene; he had always treated her like a sister since childhood. Even when she went too far, he never completely rejected her. But now, Irene insisted on damaging their relationship.
"Brother Asher, you’re quite good at denying things, aren’t you? Didn’t you dishonor when I was twenty? ..." Irene looked aggrieved, "Besides, didn’t Sister Sophie witness it too?"
This was a barrier in Asher Land’s heart that he couldn’t overco. Even though he had countless reasons to excuse himself back then, he had to admit that he did sothing that let Sophie Smith down, sothing that might count as betrayal.
After that, he hadn’t touched Irene at all, but Irene wanted to stir trouble and now just wanted Sophie and Asher to fall out quickly.
"Brother Asher, I’ll go back to the room with you then, just rember to be gentle..." Irene moved forward, holding onto his arm, pretending to be intimate.
Asher Land slightly exerted force and flung her aside.
"Don’t cause trouble for no reason."
Sophie Smith had been enduring quietly. Even though she was an actress, no matter how good her acting was, he could still see through her façade in an instant.
He knew she must really want to kick Irene out of the house now or stand up, confront him a few tis loudly...
Even if she wanted to, she wouldn’t do it.
Sophie suddenly stood up, and there was a mont when Asher Land’s body stiffened involuntarily.
"Irene, isn’t what you’re doing inappropriate?" Sophie had a slight smile on her lips; she wasn’t angry, just calm and steady.
"Sister Sophie, what are you talking about, what’s inappropriate?" Irene feigned confusion.
"Are you so keen on destroying the relationship between and Asher Land?"
This was probably the first ti she spoke so plainly in front of Irene.
"Fine, even if you and Asher had countless relations over the four years, I don’t mind now. So stop using that to stir things up in front of , you can’t anger , nor can you destroy the relationship between and Asher Land."
Sophie finished speaking word by word and then glanced up at Asher Land, seeing so joy in his eyes.
Honestly, how could soone not mind if their man slept with another woman? But she firmly believed in her heart that Asher Land hadn’t touched Irene.
Because of her ’understanding’ words, Asher Land’s mood instantly improved a lot.
As for Irene, she was really about to explode with anger.
"Sister Sophie, you are truly magnanimous! Your man can be shared with others?" Irene sneered, the sarcasm in her words instantly obvious.
