He stood under the showerhead, the slightly cool water gliding over his skin, temporarily relieving his fatigue.
Just as he was enjoying this comfort, with a "bang," the door suddenly swung open. Asher Land hadn’t had ti to grab the towel beside him for cover, resulting in Sophie Smith seeing him in his entirety.
Seeing it was her who barged in, Asher Land couldn’t help but lower his guard.
"If you want to do sothing, wait until I finish showering," he continued leisurely washing himself, while Sophie Smith stood beside him, showing no intention of leaving.
She clutched her phone, looking sowhat troubled.
"Did you co in here just to watch shower?"
Of course not, Sophie thought for a mont, but still voiced her doubt.
"Where did you take Isabella Yates? Edward Harrison just called to ask you directly."
Sophie’s heart was sowhat uneasy.
"Took her to a deserted wilderness to feed the dogs." His lips curled into an innocent smile, but the sight of that smile made Sophie’s scalp tingle.
"Asher Land, can you not do this?" Sophie spoke helplessly, "It’s true I dislike Isabella Yates, but I don’t need you to revenge her for , I..."
"Co here." Sophie hadn’t finished speaking when he interrupted her.
"I..."
"If you want to know where I’ve dropped her off, obediently listen to , understood?"
Asher Land was known for his decisiveness, and Sophie didn’t resist him.
She’d beco smarter, realizing he asked her to co over essentially to help him shower. This man, with his hands, yet often prefers not to use them.
He said nothing, so she took initiative, which Asher Land found satisfactory.
Sophie finished washing him, fetched a clean bathrobe, and helped him put it on.
"Alright, can you tell Isabella Yates’ whereabouts now? I’m still waiting to call Edward Harrison back."
She didn’t shy away from her intention in helping him shower.
"Are you sure you don’t want to extend her punishnt a bit?" His large hand stroked her smooth cheek, eyes tinged with a playful smile.
"I’m not as boring or as childish as you, just tell quickly."
Boring?
Childish?
His wholehearted intention to stand up for her, yet in her eyes, beca boring, beca childish?
He directly threw the white towel he’d been using to wipe his hair onto the ground.
Sophie was startled by his sudden action, paused briefly, and then realized he was angry.
"I,..." Words, once spoken, are like water poured out, impossible to retract even if she wanted to.
"I’m sorry, I know you ant well, but I don’t want that, you know? Sotis, the punishnts you give them are too severe, there’s really no need..."
Sophie spoke carefully, head lowered.
Alright, every ti he wanted to be angry with her, but the mont he saw her pitiful appearance, he couldn’t bring himself to be.
"Sophie, I can’t bear to, nor do I like seeing you bullied by others, you can only be bullied by , Asher Land, understood?" He domineeringly pulled her into his arms, the voice full of possessiveness coming from above her head.
Sophie’s body stiffened for a mont, then she ca to her senses, and she wrapped her hands around his broad, warm back.
In life, having a man who spoils and cares for her this much, isn’t that a kind of blessing?
Sophie thought, Asher Land must be a gift granted to her by the heavens.
