A little way from the table, there was a fruit knife.
Irene Morton looked in that direction, and Asher Land followed her gaze, suddenly knitting his brows with a bad premonition.
He had just taken a step, intending to grab the knife, but Irene was closer to the desk and already had that thought in mind. So as Asher took a step, she ran over and grabbed the knife herself.
"Irene, don’t do anything rash!" Colton Morton was truly startled and hurriedly tried to rush over to snatch the knife from Irene’s hand.
"Don’t co any closer." In utter despair, Irene pressed the gleaming, razor-sharp knife to her wrist and said bitterly, "Fine, Brother Asher, if you’re determined to marry Sister Sophie, then go ahead, marry her. In your heart, I an nothing. Even if I die, you wouldn’t even blink, right?"
"Put the knife down!" Asher Land shouted at her in a grave voice, lowering his tone.
"Put it down?" It was as if she were possessed, laughing maniacally twice, "I’ll put down the knife if you’re willing to give up on Sister Sophie."
"Are you enjoying threatening like this?" Asher Land let out a cold laugh, talking to her as he moved closer. "Even if you marry , but I don’t love you, do you think being with holds any aning?"
"I just want to have you, your person. Your heart, I don’t care anymore..." Irene said this, but even she didn’t have much confidence in it.
"Ha, to have ? I’m afraid it would just be an empty shell. I won’t touch a single hair on you."
"You!"
Irene seed struck by his words, feeling as though every inch of her skin had been slashed with a knife, blood flowing, the pain, it was so very painful...
She closed her eyes, raised the knife, and was about to slash it onto her wrist.
Just before the knife reached her wrist, a powerful force stopped it.

only to see Asher Land grasping the sharp knife’s tip, the blade deeply cutting into his palm, blood flowing profusely, covering his entire hand.
"Ah!" Irene snapped back, scread, and reflexively let go of the knife.
Asher Land’s expression was calm, opening his palm slightly, the knife fell to the ground, making a crisp sound.
"Brother Asher..." Irene was at a loss, wanting to approach but didn’t dare, only muttering ’I’m sorry’ repeatedly.
"Don’t do anything foolish."
After saying this, without even giving Irene another glance, he turned and walked out of the room, leaving her frozen in place.
He got to the car, tore off his tie, and casually bandaged the wound.
As the intense pain spread, sweat seeped from his forehead. He gritted his teeth, turned the car around, and drove away from this suffocating place.
In his current state, he certainly couldn’t go ho and let her see, so he went to the nearest hospital for a proper bandage.
He parked the car by the roadside, rolled down the window, took out a cigarette, and lit it.
Leaning his head against the headrest, eyes half-closed, even amid the swirling smoke, he couldn’t hide the helplessness and loneliness in his expression.
