Sophie Smith tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
After so thought, she took out her phone and secretly made a call to Luke Land.
"Hello..." On the other end, Luke Land’s voice was full of drowsiness.
"Second Brother, it’s Sophie. Sorry to disturb you." Sophie’s voice had a hint of apology.
"Oh, it’s fine..." Luke Land responded groggily, "Sophie, it’s so late. What’s up?"
Sophie wanted to ask about Asher Land, but she was afraid others might misunderstand and think she was just keeping tabs on him.
After hesitating for a while, she tentatively started to inquire.
"Well, tonight... didn’t Asher co over to see Irene? Is he still with you?"
"Oh Sophie, you haven’t even married the third brother or held the wedding, and you’re already keeping such close tabs on him. Indeed, marriage is akin to restricting personal freedom." Luke teased.
"Second Brother, don’t misunderstand. I’m just really worried about him."
"Indeed, you should be worried." Luke’s aningful reply left Sophie feeling uneasy.
"What do you an by that?"
What did he an?
Ha, Sophie calling to inquire about Asher’s whereabouts proved he didn’t go ho. But he was here getting a knife wound from Irene before he left. So, where is Asher now?
"He did co to see Irene. He hurt his hand."
"What? Injured?" Sophie’s voice involuntarily rose, "How did he get injured? He was fine when he left! Where is he now?"
"He’s not here... I don’t know exactly where he is."
Luke wanted to explain further, but Sophie had already hung up.
She began calling Asher one ti after another.
Finally, on the tenth call, he couldn’t resist picking up.
"What’s up?" His voice was a bit weary and hoarse.
"Where are you now? I’ll co find you."
As soon as he heard her tone, Asher knew Luke had told her about his injury and departure. He couldn’t lie to her face.
He told her the street he was on.
"Wait for , I’ll be right there." Sophie said, hanging up hastily, changing clothes, and rushing to the garage at the fastest speed.
All the way, she was extrely anxious, not knowing how he got injured or how serious it was.
She cut down the drive ti by about twenty minutes and reached Asher’s side.
His car was parked not far away, and she opened the car door and ran wildly toward his direction.
"Asher..."
He was leaning against the seat with his eyes closed, unaware of her arrival.
Sophie knocked hard on the car window, and only then did he respond.
He opened the car door and stepped out, and Sophie imdiately noticed the conspicuous white bandage on his hand.
"How did this happen?" The white bandage had faint traces of blood, and Sophie couldn’t help but frown, her face full of worry.
"Accidentally got hurt."
"Asher!"
Did he really have to brush it off like this?
She wasn’t a fool.
"It was Irene, right?"
"It’s not her fault."
"Are you protecting her?" Sophie raised a slightly mocking smile, "Asher, seeing you injured makes feel awful."
