Sophie Smith was stared at by him for quite a while, feeling sowhat uneasy, she awkwardly avoided his gaze and sat down beside him.
"Miss Miller didn’t tell everything, I want to hear you say it yourself."
Nolan Davis has always been exceedingly attentive to every aspect of her life. During the four years they were together, he could discern her thoughts from her slightest expressions.
From past experience, Nolan Davis thought Sophie might be concocting excuses to deceive him, but to his surprise, this ti, Sophie had no intention of concealing anything from him.
She lowered her head and spoke to herself silently, like she was talking to herself, yet he heard everything.
"I really hate him right now, I don’t understand why he would cover for a murderer. Murder isn’t child’s play, shouldn’t murder be punished by law?" Her eyes were red, her words disjointed, Nolan Davis couldn’t quite comprehend, but he didn’t interrupt her.
"Senior Brother died for , I just want to seek justice for him, but Asher Land doesn’t allow to do so..."
"No matter who does this, I wouldn’t feel this heartache like I do now, truly, right now..."
As Sophie spoke, she beca incoherent, tears flowed like a river breaking its banks, unstoppable.
In front of him, she rarely beca emotionally out of control like this.
The last ti she broke down crying like this was after Asher Land’s car accident when there was no news.
"Stop crying, ..." Nolan Davis took out a tissue to hand her, but the more he tried to comfort her, the harder she cried.
"Mommy..." Standing aside, Alexander was also sowhat at a loss, he had never seen Sophie like this.
Sophie indeed couldn’t suppress her emotions, she got up and headed to her room, Nolan Davis was about to follow, when he heard a ’bang’, she had already closed the door.
"Uncle Davis..."
Alexander tugged at his sleeve, "Is Mommy okay?"
Nolan Davis furrowed his brows, a hint of worry showing in his eyes, he didn’t answer Alexander, but patted on Sophie’s door, with no response.
"Mr. Davis, let be alone for a while."
Her voice was choked with sobs, sowhat raspy, like the kind of voice that has no strength left after crying.
Nolan Davis’s hand froze in mid-air, contemplating, yet in the end he let it drop.
He sat back down on the sofa, his face calm but his inner turmoil was undeniable.
As morning turned to noon, Sophie still hadn’t co out, he couldn’t help but beco more anxious.
"Uncle Davis, Mommy didn’t have breakfast, let’s go buy her so food, maybe she’ll feel better after eating..."
Indeed, a child’s world is much simpler.
But Nolan Davis took Alexander’s words to heart.
"You said, your mommy didn’t have breakfast?"
While asking, Nolan Davis walked to the entrance, took out his shoes and changed into them, Alexander followed suit.
"Yes, this morning, we were supposed to have breakfast at that uncle’s house, but he was very fierce today and had an argunt with Mommy..."
As Nolan Davis finished changing his shoes, Alexander also promptly put his shoes on, although he couldn’t tie the laces.
Nolan Davis bent down and carefully tied his laces for him.
