Irene Morton’s legs felt weak. Was Sophie Smith really going to crash into her?
But at this mont, she had no need to back down. Crash if she must. If Sophie hit her, Asher Land would never forgive her anyway.

She had to admit, her heart was twisted.
Sophie Smith lowered her gaze, a self-mocking smile tugging at her lips.
She gripped the steering wheel tightly. The distance between her and Irene wasn’t that far. She truly wasn’t sure if her driving skills were good enough. What if she accidentally killed her?
She didn’t have the impulse to kill; she really just wanted to conduct an experint.
Her foot gradually pressed down on the accelerator, then slamd it down.
Her gaze turned fierce at that mont, giving the illusion that she would definitely crash into her.
Even Asher Land really thought so.
The car sped forward, rushing straight ahead...
Irene couldn’t even scream, nor did she dodge. She just quickly shut her eyes.
"Ah!"
The expected pain of being struck didn’t co, but she scread because she lost her balance and fell hard to one side. Instead of hitting the cold, hard ground, she found herself supported by a broad, warm chest.
Slowly, she opened her tightly shut eyes and was greeted by Asher Land’s handso face, twisted slightly in pain from his back.
"Brother Asher..."
Irene cried tears of joy. He was truly good to her, unwilling to let Sophie harm her.
Asher Land, with hardly a mont’s hesitation, pushed Irene away.
"Sophie!"
He roared, but the car had already sped away, his voice left far behind her.

The screeching sound of brakes, as the car ca to a stop by the empty roadside.
It was a coastal road. Sophie got out of the car and stood by the railing. Gazing out, she could see the expansive, azure sea, but the beautiful blue did little to lift her spirits; instead, it made her feel even more repressed, more deeply so.
She braced her hands on the railing, the cool, damp sea breeze turning her eyes red. She lifted her head slightly, struggling to hold back the tears threatening to spill over.
"Asher Land! Why do you have to treat like this!" She scread with all her might, disregarding everything.
Only then did her chest feel a little less suffocated.
The image of him pushing Irene away, like a bolt of lightning, replayed over and over in her mind.
She clutched her head, squatting to the ground, leaning against the rail, admonishing herself not to think, not to think about anything anymore.
Tears dropped down continuously. She bit her lip until the strong taste of blood spread in her mouth before she noticed at all.
From day till night, she sat there like a fool.
The phone kept ringing. Trembling, she pulled it from her bag—it was a call from Eva Miller.
"Sophie, where have you been? I was worried sick. President Land called today; he said he’s been trying to reach you all day and couldn’t get through. He’s looking for you everywhere..."
It was only then that Sophie rembered she had blocked him in a fit of pique.
"Eva, don’t worry about . I’m heading ho soon." She couldn’t help coughing a few tis, perhaps the late-night sea breeze had chilled her.
