"You head back first."
"Oh, Brother Asher, why are you in such a rush to get rid of ? I’ve been longing to see you, and you’re acting so heartless."
Irene Morton pretended to grab Asher Land’s arm, but he pushed her away with a bit of force.
She staggered backward, taking two steps to steady herself.
Sophie Smith stood there with an expressionless face. Honestly, she didn’t know what she should do now.
She had previously vowed that she hoped Irene would be legally punished, hoping to teach her a lesson and seek justice for Wyatt Sterling. But now, here Irene was right in front of her, and she couldn’t do anything about it.
This feeling really tornted her.
Seeing the hatred in Sophie’s eyes but realizing she wouldn’t dare to ’act rashly,’ Irene knew it was because of Asher Land’s ’protection’ that Sophie didn’t have the courage to do anything to her.
And so, it made her even more unrestrained.
"Sister Sophie, I’m really sorry for accidentally running over your friend last ti. The Morton Clan Group is willing to overcompensate as an apology to the deceased’s family..."
Just listen to that tone, as arrogant as can be.
Sophie let out a cold laugh, "Miss Morton, if I accidentally ran you over now, I would be sure to pay you an unimaginable amount of compensation. Would you like to try?"
"You!" Irene wanted to fly into a rage and teach Sophie a lesson, but now, she felt there was no need to get angry.
With Asher around, why should she argue with Sophie?
"If you want to run over, go ahead. But why don’t you ask Brother Asher’s opinion first and see if he would allow you to do that?"
Irene smiled, with disdain and contempt.
Sophie raised her eyes, glancing at Asher Land.
His expression suddenly turned a bit uneasy, and of course, Sophie knew what he was uneasy about.
But ultimately, so things still needed to be tested.
Even if it ended in the way she least wanted to see or accept.
She withdrew her gaze from Asher and turned to Irene, slightly curling her lips. What was ant to be a faint smile carried a chilling coldness.
"Do you think I wouldn’t dare?"
She spoke each word clearly.
"What did you say?" Irene took a mont to co to her senses.
"So what if Asher Land is here? So what if he’s protecting you? Irene, you don’t really think I wouldn’t dare run you over, do you?"
Irene’s eyes widened, her arrogance dialed down a notch, but she still couldn’t believe Sophie would have this courage and audacity in front of Asher Land.
"Murder isn’t just your right."
Sophie let out a light laugh, her eyes carrying an inscrutable expression. Before Asher or Irene could react, she was already seated in the car.
"Sophie, what are you doing?"
Asher tapped on her car window. It was evident he was still tense.
Tense about what?
Nervous she might harm Irene?
It seed that this experint was at a failing point before it even began.
She just wanted to gamble on her place in Asher Land’s heart.
She wouldn’t really run Irene over, but she wanted to see if Asher would step in to help Irene.
A hint of coldness crept onto her lips, and she started the car, reversing a few ters, then focused her gaze on where Irene stood.
