Enzo Land made a call to Asher Land.
Listening to the constant ’beep beep’ sound, Sophie Smith could only silently pray in her heart.
Don’t answer the phone.
Don’t.
"Hello."
The single word, clear and firm, ca from the other end of the line.
Sophie felt as if her heart had been struck hard; she bit her lip, face pale.
"Third Young Master Land, it’s ." Enzo Land laughed a few tis; on this rainy night, his voice sounded extrely arrogant.
"Enzo Land?" Asher’s voice suddenly turned chilly; he hadn’t sought revenge on him yet, and here he was sending himself right into the lion’s den.
"Third Young Master Land, let’s cut to the chase, I won’t waste words with you. I need you to co see alone, otherwise..."
Enzo paused, not continuing his sentence.
"Otherwise what?"
"Miss Smith is with , what do you think could happen?" Enzo said casually.
"Enzo Land!"
Asher was enraged, "Let her go!"
"Of course I can let her go. I said, as long as you co to an appointnt with alone."
"Where are you now?"
Just as expected, he didn’t hesitate for a second, showing decisiveness and determination.
"I’ll send the address to your phone. Rember, co alone, or else..." Enzo knew that threatening him with this woman would be most effective.
"Or else, I might throw your beloved woman down the mountainside."
"If you so much as lay a finger on her, just you dare try?" Asher’s voice carried a chilling threat, leaving Enzo montarily speechless and unable to retort.
While speaking, he had already driven at top speed to the parking lot.
"I want to hear her voice."
By now, he was already deeply anxious, and his hand on the steering wheel was trembling uncontrollably.
He couldn’t find a single word to describe his current feelings; he wouldn’t allow anything to happen to her, absolutely not.
Enzo handed the phone to Sophie’s lips.
"Miss Smith, say sothing for Third Young Master Land to hear, or he’ll think I’m joking with him."
Asher was holding his breath, waiting for her to speak.
Sophie clenched her teeth, refusing to make any sound.
Turned out, she was quite stubborn.
Enzo nodded to a subordinate, and a burly middle-aged man approached, using all his strength to kick Sophie in the chest.
Expecting a horrific scream, yet this woman stubbornly made no sound, even biting her lips to bleed rather than utter a word.
The burly man increased the force of his kicks, delivering several more.
Seeing she was about to faint, Enzo waved his hand to signal them to stop.
What if this woman’s weak constitution caused her to die later?
"Third Young Master Land, your woman won’t speak, afraid you’ll worry. If you want to confirm she’s with , I might as well send you a photo."
Without waiting for Asher’s response, Enzo had already ended the call.
He took a picture of Sophie’s current state and sent it directly to Asher’s phone.
Asher’s fingertips trembled as he opened the photo.
Due to the lighting, the face in the photo was indistinguishable. Only a small, bound figure lay curled up on the muddy mountain path, drenched by the rain...
But still, he could recognize her at a glance.
"Sophie..."
His heart painfully twisted; damn it, why did she have to suffer such pain for him again?
