Back then for witches, fighting in close quarters was actually a weakness, a last resort.
After Lord Dragon King established the Combat Magic System, this weakness was finally addressed.
Ultimately, while Combat Magic techniques are trained like martial arts and fought as such, they are not purely martial arts but spellcasting.
They simply integrate martial arts, casting spells in martial arts form.
Since it involves spellcasting, naturally it can’t escape the Eight thods of the God King.
To date, the branches within the Combat Magic Faction are diverse, including styles like the Wave Flow from the Evocation Faction, the Drug-Indulging Style from the Potion School, the Projection Flow from the Alchemy School, the Skeleton Flow from the Necromancy Bloodline, and so on.
So, even if they call it the Nine Witch Factions now, in practice, the Combat Magic System doesn’t conflict with the other eight systems, but complents them.
The Combat Magic System is akin to the physical education class in mortal schools; it’s a faction that can be concurrently studied regardless of major or discipline.
Unlike mortal physical education teachers who often fall ill and cancel class, the witches’ combat magic classes are mandatory. The little witches first choose from the Eight thods of the God King the faction that suits them best, then in combat magic class find a teacher to learn the corresponding battle magic martial skills.
Hence, theoretically speaking, claiming all witches belong to the Combat Magic School isn’t wrong either.
Usually, when soone claims to be from the Combat Magic School, they refer to those special witches who’ve abandoned ranged attacks, specializing in combat magic.
That is, those at the bottom of the Ard Witch hierarchy — the Assault Witches.
Yes, plainly speaking, they’re the athletic prodigies of the Witch World.
Of course, this isn’t to derogate Assault Witches; after all, the Dragon King is the strongest Assault Witch, with extrely high potential in this profession.
However, the Combat Magic System also has the lowest entry threshold among factions; such low entry naturally leads to a mixed bag within the entire group.
