The night was heavy, the autumn wind bleak.

Withered yellow leaves fluttered down, tinged with a hint of desolation.

Chloe Reed walked along the side of the road, her mind a tangled ss.

’Since the sapphire earrings belonged to my maternal grandparents, why is Sunny so desperate to have them? She even said they were very important to her. Autumn Linton’s attitude was strange, too. She also wanted to give the earrings to Sunny. Why is that? Could these earrings have so connection to Sunny’s relatives?’

Her mind was in a jumble.

Back ho, she took out the sapphire earrings and examined them carefully under the light for a long ti. She decided that once she finished up her work, she would go to her grandmother and give her the earrings.

She had to fulfill her grandmother’s wish.

...

「In the teahouse.」

The air was fragrant with tea, and the landscape painting on the folding screen was exquisite.

Charles Reed looked at Walker Grant, who sat across from him, and asked bluntly, "Sunny gave up her shares. Did you say sothing to her?"

Walker poured him tea, his handso, sharp features devoid of expression. He lifted his gaze to et Charles’s and said, "She’s not the Reed family’s biological daughter, after all."

Charles Reed frowned. "Aren’t you getting a little too involved in the Reed family’s affairs?"

Walker’s lips curled into a smile. "Dad, I’m a son-in-law of the Reed family. There are so matters I am allowed to get involved in."

Though he was young, he had a formidable presence. By reining it in now, he only seed more inscrutable.

Charles couldn’t figure out what he was thinking.

So he just asked him straight out, "What exactly are your intentions toward Sunny?"

A chill entered Walker’s eyes. "Dad," he said, "didn’t we co here today to discuss the shares?"

’He was avoiding the question.’

Charles lowered his gaze slightly. After a mont, he said, "I don’t care what you’re thinking, but you can only be with one of my daughters. Don’t think you can have both."

"Dad, have so tea."

Walker pushed the teacup toward him.

Charles’s brows knitted together. ’Is he trying to shut up?’

He was angry, but he suppressed it. He picked up the teacup, took a sip, and then said, "I heard you won a pair of sapphire earrings at auction for Sunny, but Chloe snatched them away. How did you handle that?"

Walker lowered his gaze. "If Chloe likes them, she can have them."

"You won those for Sunny." Charles’s tone grew stern. "If you make a promise, you should keep it. Chloe might be immature, but how can you be as well?"

But Walker said, "They’re just a pair of sapphire earrings. My wife likes them. Am I supposed to snatch away sothing she adores just to give it to soone else?"

"But Chloe clearly snatched them!" Charles could barely contain his fury. "Both of you are being so childish! Sunny has never asked for anything. All she wanted were those earrings. Why couldn’t you just let her have them?"

Walker lifted his gaze, his dark, deep eyes fixed on him. "Dad, my wife and I already fought over this. And now you’re telling to take the earrings back and give them to Sunny? Are you trying to make us fight again?"

Charles fell silent.

After a mont, he finally said, "If Sunny can’t have the sapphires, I’ll go back to our original agreent and give her three percent of the Reed Group’s shares as compensation. Walker, you will stay out of this."

With that said, he stared intently at Walker, waiting to see his reaction.
