Walker Grant looked up at him. "When you made these decisions, did you ever think about Chloe?"
Charles Reed retorted, "I’ve already given Chloe shares. What more could she be unhappy about?"
He paused, then added, "Besides, Sunny saved you back then, Walker. You have to repay that debt."
The tea room fell silent. The aroma of tea wafted through the air, but the atmosphere grew colder.
After a long mont, Walker Grant finally said, "You can give her the Reed Group shares, but if she doesn’t want them, you can’t force her. After all, she knows perfectly well which is more important—the Reed Group’s shares or Noah Grant. I imagine you’re well aware of that too, aren’t you?"
Charles Reed’s expression darkened completely.
He finally understood what Walker Grant was using to threaten Sunny Reed.
Noah Grant was Sunny Reed’s entire world!
"Walker, how can you do this to Sunny? She saved your life!" Charles Reed said furiously.
"That’s for to consider." Walker Grant’s tone was mild. "You’re in such a hurry, one might think she saved your life, too."
"You...!"
Charles Reed’s face was ugly with rage. He shot to his feet and left imdiately.
’He’d thought Walker Grant would help Sunny Reed out of gratitude for saving his life, but he never expected the man to completely disregard the rules.’
’What was he really thinking?’
’He seed to treat Sunny Reed well... but then again, not *that* well.’
’He really couldn’t figure him out!’
Walker Grant calmly drank his tea. After a long while, he got up and walked out, where his special assistant, Dylan Finch, was waiting.
"Mr. Grant, are we returning to the office now?"
"Find out why the Reed family adopted Sunny Reed," Walker Grant said as he walked out.
"Understood."
...
The share agreent had taken effect, and Chloe Reed went to sign the papers.
On her way back, she saw Sunny Reed coming out of a recording studio and imdiately looked away. ’What an unlucky sight,’ she thought.
Sunny Reed watched her retreating back, a sinister glint flashing in her eyes.
’She hadn’t gotten the sapphire earrings, and she’d even been beaten for it. Complaining to Charles Reed and Autumn Linton had been useless.’
A sense of crisis washed over her.
’Could everything she had now just disappear?’
’She wouldn’t allow that to happen!’
She imdiately turned and went to the manager’s office.
The manager for this project was new and still in the process of getting to know the company.
She was inside for a long ti before she ca out. A short while later, the manager erged and said to everyone with a smile, "I’m treating everyone to dinner tonight. Finish up your work as soon as you can and clear your schedules for this evening. It’ll be a good chance for us to get to know each other."
A company team-building event with a new boss was standard procedure.
No one had any objections.
The manager’s gaze fell on Chloe Reed’s back, lingering for an extra mont before he returned to his office.
That evening, everyone headed to the restaurant for the dinner gathering.
The manager was the last one to co out. Seeing the empty front passenger seat in Chloe Reed’s car, he walked over quite naturally and said with a smile, "Perfect, there’s a spot for . Mind giving a lift?"
Chloe Reed glanced at him and said, "Manager Owen, don’t you have a car?"
Owen Sterling smiled and said, "I’m new to the city and still not very familiar with it. I’m staying in a hotel at the mont while I look for a place. Do you have any good recomndations?"
"I do." Chloe Reed nodded, then imdiately listed the nas of several residential complexes. "I think these are all quite nice."
A few people behind them overheard and exchanged glances.
These were all well-known luxury complexes in pri locations where every inch of land was worth a fortune. A single apartnt in any of them cost several million, at least.
