"Walker, no matter what happened, you can’t do that. Noah has already lost his father; he can’t lose his mother too," Judith Pierce said earnestly.

Even though she despised Sunny Reed.

But a child who had already lost his father couldn’t lose his mother too.

She was just doing her best to keep Sunny Reed and Walker Grant from getting entangled.

In a cold tone, Walker Grant recounted the events of the previous night.

Judith Pierce fell silent for a mont before saying, "I understand. This can be resolved easily enough. It’s not sothing we should discuss over the phone, so just co to the hospital. We can clear things up in person."

"Mm."

Walker Grant acknowledged her and hung up the phone.

But he was in no hurry to get up, instead continuing to eat his al, slow and unhurried.

Chloe Reed said impassively, "I’m going to the restroom."

Walker nodded. "Fine. I’ll go with you."

Chloe Reed: "..."

She was exasperated. "What exactly is it that you want?"

Walker said, "You’re coming with to the hospital. Afterward, I’ll take you ho to rest."

Hearing this, she gave him a suspicious look, trying to gauge whether he was telling the truth.

"I’m not lying to you."

Chloe Reed fell silent. After they finished their al, they headed straight for the hospital.

They arrived at the hospital an hour later.

Judith Pierce was rather surprised to see them arrive together.

"Mom."

Chloe Reed greeted her.

Judith Pierce then asked, "How’s work? Is everything going well?"

"It’s fine," she said flatly.

Judith Pierce gave a faint smile. "It’ll get even better from now on."

With that, she pushed open the door to the hospital room and went inside.

Sunny Reed had caught a cold that had turned into a high fever. Though the fever had broken, her face was still pale, and she looked weak and innocent.

"Noah..."

The mont she saw Noah Grant, she imdiately reached for him, tears streaming down her face.

"Mama."

Noah ran over and threw himself into her embrace.

The mother and son clung to each other, sobbing.

Walker Grant’s brows furrowed as he watched the scene, a flicker of impatience in his eyes.

"That’s enough. No one is trying to take your son from you. Crying like that makes it look like the Grant family has been mistreating you," Judith Pierce scolded in a stern voice.

Sunny Reed flinched. She sniffled, not daring to cry any longer.

"I’m aware of what happened last night," Judith Pierce said. "It seems you’re unable to work and care for Noah simultaneously. You’ll have to give one up."

Sunny Reed bit her lip. Holding Noah tightly, she said, "I’ll take care of Noah."

Judith Pierce nodded. "Good. Then go and resign. The Grant family won’t let you starve; there’s no need for you to work. Raising Noah well is more important than anything else."

"I understand, Mom."

Sunny Reed replied, her eyes downcast.

Judith Pierce rubbed her temples. "Get so rest. I’ll be leaving now."

She turned to Chloe Reed. "Chloe, walk out."

"Okay."

They left the hospital room, one after the other.

Walker Grant started to follow, but Sunny Reed called out to him.

"Walker."

He turned back to look at her. Seeing her pale, tear-streaked face, his tone softened slightly. "Sister-in-law, you should get so rest."

But Sunny Reed bit her lip. "You were the one who told to work with my sister," she said. "The idea was to help us nd our relationship. Now, Mom is telling to resign. I... who am I supposed to listen to?"

After a pause, she lowered her eyes and spoke softly. "I saved your life back then. I never expected you to repay , but you were the one who promised you would. Yet... I haven’t gotten a single thing I wanted. Walker, I don’t know if I should keep trusting you."
