It was like being doused with cold water.
Chloe Reed froze for a mont before snapping to her senses and struggling with all her might.
"Get off! Get off !"
’Even when he’s drunk, he still rembers to take care of Noah Grant and see Sunny Reed!’
’And he dares talk about love?’
’Is he even worthy?’
’He’s a disgrace to the very word ’love’!’
Chloe Reed reacted violently. In the scuffle, Walker Grant’s back scraped against the wall, sending a searing pain through him.
"UGH!"
He let out a pained grunt and collapsed to the floor.
Chloe Reed, however, got to her feet. Breathing raggedly, she glared at him. "You’re a bastard!"
But Walker Grant looked at her with red-rimd eyes. "Chloe, my back hurts."
"Good! Let it kill you!"
Chloe Reed kicked him. Her face was livid with rage, and her entire body trembled.
She went to the door, saw it was open, and imdiately walked out.
The wind whipped against her, chilling her to the bone.
She didn’t spare a single glance back at the man lying on the floor.
Back in her own apartnt, she took a hot shower. The mont she stepped out of the bathroom, her phone rang.
She took it out and saw it was a call from Charles Reed.
She hung up, turned off her phone, pulled the covers over herself, and went to sleep.
’Right now, I need to get so proper rest. Then I’ll talk to him about the divorce!’
’If he doesn’t agree, I’ll go to Madam Grant!’
’His parents are coming back soon, too. This divorce has to happen, no matter what!’
She slept like the dead, eventually woken by a ravenous hunger.
She ordered takeout, then turned on her phone to find a flood of ssages and missed calls.
Chloe Reed closed her eyes, then began going through the ssages one by one.
Just then, the phone rang again, and her hand slipped, causing her to answer the call.
"You little brat! So you finally decided to answer your phone? Do you have any idea how badly Walker is hurt? Are you even human? Get yourself to the hospital right now!" Charles Reed’s furious voice roared through the phone.
With her eyes still closed, Chloe Reed said, "I’m not going. Let Sunny Reed go. She might as well take care of him all the way into his bed. That way, their little family of three can finally be together out in the open."
The mont the words were out, she hung up the phone.
When her takeout arrived, she got up to get it, only to find Iris Yates at the door.
"Why are you eating takeout?" Iris Yates asked, handing her the food. "You could have your housekeeper co cook for you."
Chloe Reed replied listlessly, "I’m starving. As long as it’s food, I’ll eat it."
Iris could see it too. "You’ve lost so much weight," she said. "What’s been going on with you lately?"
’So much has happened.’
But Chloe Reed didn’t want to talk about it. "What brings you here all of a sudden?" she asked while eating.
"I’m here to tell you so good news!" Iris Yates bead. "There’s been a breakthrough on that thing we talked about! I asked a friend to check with a voice acting company. They’re casting for a drama right now but haven’t been able to find the right voice actor. I sent them your demo, and they want to et with you!"
Chloe Reed’s eyes instantly lit up. This was truly good news!
"When’s the eting?"
Iris Yates said, "We can go this afternoon. But are you up for it?"
Chloe Reed nodded emphatically. "Yes, yes, of course I am."
She quickly finished her al and got ready. An hour later, she stood before Iris Yates, looking stunning.
Iris Yates praised her, "You look gorgeous, girl! Alright, let’s go!"
But when they opened the door, they found Sunny Reed standing on the other side.
Chloe Reed’s eyes went cold, and her lips curled into a smirk. "You actually dare to co see alone? You’ve got so nerve."
Sunny Reed instinctively took a step back. "Chloe Reed, Walker is unconscious in the hospital. You should go see him. You’re his wife; it wouldn’t be right for you not to go."
