Akeno
Akeno stepped through the shimring portal and into an entirely new world. The shift was imdiate. The cool night air carried the scent of damp earth and blooming flowers, but what caught her attention first was the vast jungle that stretched out before her.
Towering trees lood over her, their thick canopies casting deep shadows across the uneven terrain. The only sources of light were the pale moon above and the faint glow of fireflies dancing through the foliage.
She placed a hand on her hip, sighing. "Why couldn’t he just connect this portal directly to a house, like he did in our world?" she muttered to herself. Alex always seed so ticulous, yet here she was, stranded in the middle of nowhere on her first-ever visit to another world.
Since wandering aimlessly wasn’t an option, Akeno reached into the pocket of her skirt and pulled out a small device that looked similar to a phone.
The screen lit up, revealing a glowing map with a single blinking dot indicating Alex’s location. This was one of the artifacts he had given all the girls back in her world, allowing them to find him whenever they wished.
"Butterfly Mansion, huh?" she murmured, tilting her head slightly. "Fancy na."
With a smirk, she tucked the device away and spread her wings—her beautiful black devil wing on one side and her fallen angel wing on the other. With a single powerful beat, she soared into the night sky, leaving the dense jungle behind as she made her way toward Alex’s location.
The world below was breathtaking. Rolling hills, rivers that sparkled in the moonlight, and small villages tucked away in the wilderness. It felt different from anything she had seen before—older, untouched by modern civilization. She could hardly wait to see what kind of people lived here.
However, as she approached the Butterfly Mansion, she felt a sudden shift in the air.
Akeno barely had ti to react before sothing shot toward her with incredible speed. A gleaming blade, laced with an ominous purple sheen, sliced through the air, aid directly at her neck.
Akeno’s eyes widened, but her instincts kicked in. She twisted her body mid-flight, avoiding the strike by a hair’s breadth. The wind pressure from the missed attack brushed against her cheek as she landed gracefully on the ground a few feet away.
Standing before her was a young woman clad in a butterfly-thed haori, a katana gripped in her delicate hand. Despite the attempt on Akeno’s life just seconds ago, the woman’s face remained adorned with a serene smile—calm, unwavering, as if she hadn’t just tried to kill soone.
"Oh my," the woman said, tilting her head slightly. "A demon with wings? How unusual."
Akeno blinked before a small smile spread across her lips. "Ara, ara~ You certainly don’t waste ti with introductions, do you?"
The woman’s smile didn’t falter. "You were flying directly toward our estate in the middle of the night. That is more than enough reason to assu you’re a threat." She raised her sword again, the tip aid toward Akeno. "Tell , demon, do you have any last words before I end your life?"
Akeno chuckled, placing a hand over her mouth in amusent. "Ara, ara~ How scary. But I’m not a demon, you know."
The woman narrowed her eyes slightly, but the polite smile remained. "Is that so? And yet, you have wings, an unusual presence, and arrived at an unnatural speed. Forgive if I find your claim... unconvincing."
Akeno sighed, placing a hand on her hip. "Well, I can’t bla you for being cautious. But if you attack again, I might have to retaliate. And that would be such a sha, wouldn’t it?"
The woman remained silent for a mont before lowering her blade ever so slightly. "You don’t seem like a typical demon," she admitted. "But that doesn’t an I can trust you. Tell , why have you co here?"
Akeno’s smile turned playful. "I’m here for my beloved Alex~"
At the ntion of his na, a flicker of recognition crossed the woman’s face, though her expression remained unreadable.
"So you are acquainted with him," she said, her tone losing so of its initial hostility.
"More than acquainted," Akeno replied teasingly. "We’re quite close."
The woman’s eyes observed Akeno carefully before she finally sheathed her sword. "I see. Then I suppose it would be rude of to continue treating you as an enemy."
Akeno sighed in mock relief. "I was starting to worry you’d keep trying to kill ."
The woman took a step closer, and despite her small stature, there was sothing undeniably intimidating about her presence.
"Forgive for not introducing myself sooner," she said with a bow. "I am Shinobu Kocho, Insect Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps."
Akeno smiled and mimicked her movent, giving a graceful bow of her own. "Akeno Hijima, a devil and a fallen angel. One of Alex’s many lovers."
Shinobu’s polite smile remained unchanged, though there was a subtle glint in her eyes. "Many lovers, you say? My, my. Alex-sama certainly keeps himself busy."
Akeno chuckled. "Ara, ara~ You don’t seem too surprised."
Shinobu’s smile widened ever so slightly. "I’ve co to learn that Alex-sama is quite... unique. And if you are here, then I suppose you must be as well."
Akeno tilted her head. "That depends. Are you going to try to kill again?"
Shinobu let out a soft, lodic laugh. "Not unless you give a reason to."
Akeno grinned. "I’ll keep that in mind."
With the tension between them easing, Shinobu gestured toward the mansion. "Co. If you are here to see Alex-sama, I will escort you."
