"Sothing the matter?"
Thomas Shannon’s expression was cold, his eyes holding their usual icy deanor.
Alia Shaw shook her head. No, he wasn’t like this when he spoke with the maniac... When he spoke with the maniac, there was always a faint smile playing at the corners of his eyes. It was as if speaking with her was sothing extrely interesting. There’s no pain quite like an unfavorable comparison. His attitude towards the maniac and his attitude towards her were completely different. This discovery, this realization, left her at a loss, frozen on the spot.
Thomas Shannon had no patience to wait for her. He stood up and started to walk out. Alia Shaw, reacting belatedly, scrambled up and rushed after him, hugging him from behind.
"Thomas, don’t go! Please, just hear out, okay?"
Thomas Shannon lowered his head, his gaze falling on the arms wrapped around his waist. A flicker of coldness crossed his eyes. "Let go."
"No, Thomas, please hear out first! I know I was wrong. It was my fault for being so slow to realize my feelings for you, my fault for letting us waste two years... I’m sorry. I apologize for my immaturity and irrationality back then. Can you forgive ? Give another chance? This ti... let be the one to love you properly, okay?"
The corner of Thomas Shannon’s mouth hooked into a barely perceptible, sarcastic smile. "Two years ago, were you really just slow?"
"Yes, Thomas. Two years ago, I thought Frank Mitchell was the one who treated best. You were too unattainable, too far out of reach. It made hesitate, so I chose Frank Mitchell."
Her voice was strained, bitterness flooding her heart. "After leaving Frank Mitchell, I realized you’re the one I love most. I can’t bear being without you anymore. That’s why I mustered the courage to beg Bay King to bring back to see you... Thomas, I’m so sorry. Please, don’t tornt like this. My heart aches terribly. Seeing you with that maniac... I’m in so much pain, I feel like I’m going to die..."
"Really?"
Tears stread down Alia Shaw’s face as she nodded frantically. "Don’t you know? Every ti I see you with that maniac, every ti I see you taking care of her, showing concern for her, it’s like a knife twisting in my heart... If I hadn’t been so slow two years ago, if I hadn’t been so immature and irrational, would I be the one enjoying your affection and care now?"
"Samuel, you know that was two years ago, don’t you?"
Thomas Shannon chuckled softly, his voice unbelievably gentle, like a lover’s whisper.
Alia Shaw was dazed. How long had it been since he’d spoken to her so tenderly? So tender... she would willingly die at this very mont.
Having packed her luggage, Sophie Sullivan headed to the Restaurant, not seeing Thomas Shannon anywhere.
Unexpectedly, she stumbled upon quite a scene. The sight of those two embracing was truly an eyesore.
She watched Thomas Shannon and Alia Shaw with cold eyes, a slight, chilling twitch at the corner of her lips. Without a word, she turned and left.
Hearing footsteps, Thomas Shannon looked up, only to see a retreating figure.
He looked down and pried Alia Shaw’s hands off him. But she clung to him desperately, pleading, "Thomas, don’t send away, please don’t..."
"Let go!"
Thomas Shannon was sowhat troubled. The maniac must have seen that. Turning and leaving without a word... that’s not like her. Could it be... she’s angry?
"Thomas, please let stay by your side, okay? I promise I’ll be more obedient than that maniac. I’ll definitely love you more than she does..."
