Sophie Sullivan’s lips curved slightly, but she said nothing.
When Thomas Shannon entered the Restaurant, he saw Alia Shaw furious and glaring at Sophie, as if she wanted to eat her alive.
"Thomas Shannon."
Sophie turned her head, her voice soft and sweet as she called his na.
"Hmm?" Thomas Shannon’s lips curved into a pleased smile as he sat beside her.
Sophie pushed her half-finished soup toward him. "I can’t drink this much. Do you want so?"
Before Thomas Shannon could answer, Alia Shaw, unable to bear it any longer, interjected, "Thomas, that soup was specially made for the maniac by the Chief Chef. Only patients can drink it."
In other words, you shouldn’t drink it!
Only patients can drink it.
Thomas Shannon was not oblivious to the rivalry between the two won: one who was by his side every night, and the other who was far less important.
Thomas Shannon knew perfectly well who mattered more.
He said nothing, and the hearts of both Alia Shaw and Sophie Sullivan tightened.
Sophie scooped a spoonful of soup, gently blew on it, and brought it to his lips. "I’ve tasted it. It’s delicious. Would you like to try so?"
"Maniac, Thomas doesn’t want to drink it. Why bother?" Alia Shaw jeered, glancing disdainfully at Sophie.
Her gaze seed to mock Sophie for her wishful thinking.
"How would you know he doesn’t want to drink it?"
Sophie’s lips curved slightly, her expression confident and certain.
She t his gaze, her beautiful eyes carrying a hint of a threat as she looked at Thomas Shannon, as if to say, If you don’t drink this, don’t even think about touching a single one of my fingertips in the future.
Thomas Shannon loathed the scheming and rivalry among won. Yet, watching the back-and-forth between Sophie and Alia Shaw, he didn’t feel the disgust he had anticipated.
On the contrary, he found himself rather looking forward to Sophie’s next move.
His thin lips parted slightly, and he drank the soup Sophie fed him.
Alia Shaw’s breath hitched, and the color drained from her face.
Thomas Shannon... How could he slap her in the face right in front of that maniac?
Sophie proudly tilted her delicate chin, glancing coldly at the pale-faced Alia Shaw. She had faith in Thomas Shannon; it seed that in such provocative situations, he had never disappointed her.
After all, they had slept together; there was a unique camaraderie between them. At the critical mont, he still sided with her.
Sophie was greatly comforted by this and decided she would reward Thomas Shannon.
Noticing her movent, Thomas Shannon pushed her forehead with one hand, stopping her attempted kiss. His brows furrowed. "What are you trying to do?"
Sophie felt quite crestfallen. Across the table, Alia Shaw’s mocking laughter could be heard.
Sophie pouted. "I saw a grease stain on your lips. I just wanted to help you wipe it off."
It was a clumsy attempt to save face and preserve her dignity.
After breakfast, Charlie River hurried into the Restaurant and whispered a few words into Thomas Shannon’s ear.
"Prepare the car." Thomas Shannon’s handso face remained impassive as he uttered the two words.
Sophie stood up. "I’ll go upstairs to pack my luggage."
Thomas Shannon nodded. As Sophie left the Restaurant, Alia Shaw sat beside him, her eyes filled with tears as she looked at him earnestly.
"Thomas..."
She had thought she could pretend not to care, that she could act as if sending him off was nothing. But the mont she opened her mouth, Alia Shaw realized she couldn’t do it. No matter how well she had ntally rehearsed it, only now, as she tried to speak, did she realize just how difficult it was.
She was jealous—insanely jealous of Sophie Sullivan.
