The grand President’s Office.
Thomas Shannon looked at the file his secretary presented, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Mr. Roberts?"
"Young Master, this Mr. Roberts specifically requested to negotiate with you personally. He has shown considerable sincerity by already prepaying half of the deposit."
Charlie River added, "He asked to et you when you and the Maniac were in the Sahara Desert. However, you were busy at the ti, so I took the liberty of scheduling the eting for ten days later."
Thomas Shannon put down the file with one hand and lit a cigarette. Amidst the swirling smoke, his handso face appeared all the more dreamlike.
"Postpone the eting. First, investigate his identity thoroughly," Thomas Shannon instructed in a low voice, taking a deep drag from his cigarette.
"Understood, Young Master!"
Charlie River turned and walked out.
Thomas Shannon flicked the ash from his cigarette, then took out his mobile phone to call the bodyguard assigned to Sophie Sullivan.
"Young Master!" the bodyguard answered respectfully.
"Where did the Maniac go?"
"The Maniac went to the shopping centre, then to Fluffy Zane’s manor, and she’s now on her way back to the manor."
She went to the Zane residence? It seems her relationship with Fluffy Zane truly isn’t simple. "What did she say to Fluffy Zane?"
"Young Master, the Maniac didn’t allow us to follow. We only watched her from the courtyard, so we didn’t hear what she and Fluffy Zane discussed."
The bodyguard added, "However, the Maniac said she ca to thank Fluffy Zane for taking her in last ti. She bought gifts for her."
Such a clumsy excuse. As if I wouldn’t see through it.
Thomas Shannon sneered. "I see."
He hung up the phone, his slender index finger tapping lightly on the tabletop.
"Maniac, Sophie Sullivan..." he chuckled softly. He would find out who she really was eventually.
When Sophie Sullivan returned to the manor, Harry the cat was fawning over her again.
Sophie Sullivan couldn’t help but wonder, had she beco too approachable lately? This chubby cat was no longer afraid of her!
"OW." Harry rubbed his fluffy head against her.
Sophie Sullivan waved her hand. "Go away, I don’t have ti to play with you."
"OW."
Harry kept owing, biting her skirt hem and persistently trying to pull her upstairs.
Although Harry, this silly cat, could be a bit timid sotis, his current actions conveyed a clear ssage: Follow him!
Seeing how earnestly he was trying, Sophie Sullivan rose and followed him.
Harry let go of her skirt hem and agilely ran upstairs.
He moved quickly, and upon reaching the top of the stairs, he turned and yowled at her twice.
"Alright, alright, I’m coming, aren’t I?"
Sophie Sullivan followed him up. Harry raced ahead. From behind, all Sophie Sullivan could see was a chubby, round ball of fur streaking down the carpeted hallway.
Quite agile for a fatty.
Harry burst into Thomas Shannon’s cloakroom, and then his howls echoed from within.
What on earth was happening?
Sophie Sullivan followed him. Pushing open the cloakroom door, she saw Raina Bell, the last person she expected to find there.
Raina Bell, who was ironing Thomas Shannon’s shirts, clearly hadn’t expected to see Sophie Sullivan either.
