Lucifer grinned. "I said I’d wait for you outside so that you could see as soon as you woke up."
"Alright," Sophie nodded. "I’m hungry..."
"Great, I haven’t had dinner either."
Sophie almost choked on her water. Swallowing, she turned to look at Lucifer. "You haven’t had dinner yet?"
She thought she was the only one who hadn’t eaten dinner. He hadn’t slept, so why hadn’t he eaten?
Could it be... he was waiting for her on purpose?
Lucifer’s answer confird her suspicion. "I was waiting for Cecilia Branford to join ."
Sophie: "..."
Was he sure he was her friend and not so die-hard fan?
"Cecilia, your gaze makes nervous..." Lucifer stood up, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Don’t tell you’re fantasizing about ."
"Get lost!" Sophie shook his hand off.
Lucifer didn’t seem annoyed at all. He picked up the nu. "What would you like to eat? Or should I order for you?"
"Whatever." Sophie still hadn’t fully recovered her mood; she felt sad knowing her parents and grandparents were no longer alive.
Lucifer simply nodded. "Then I’ll order your favorites."
The waiter brought their midnight snack to the suite and set it on the dining table. Sophie and Lucifer sat down together. She was beginning to believe that he truly knew her well.
There wasn’t a single dish he had ordered that she disliked.
Every dish suited her taste perfectly.
"I’m glad your taste hasn’t changed in the past year," Lucifer joked.
Sophie calmly lowered her eyelids. "A person’s tastes and habits don’t change so Aiden Rock."
Just like the blood in her veins, it had long since perated her entire being, etched deep into her very bones.
"I thought your taste might have changed a bit, given the ti you recently spent in Country A."
Country A...
Sophie paused in her eating, a mory surfacing in her muddled head.
The locator alarm, Thomas Shannon...
Damn it!
Her expression changed. Too much had happened today. From the mont she arrived in Country J, she had t with Frank Mitchell and then encountered Lucifer.
So much had happened that she had forgotten about Thomas Shannon.
Moreover, she had forgotten to contact him in ti to reassure him.
Sophie frowned in annoyance. Lucifer put down his knife and fork and wiped the corner of his mouth with a napkin. "Cecilia, what’s wrong?"
"I forgot to call Thomas Shannon..."
"Why do you need to call Thomas Shannon?" Lucifer looked unhappy, his deep blue eyes gazing at her with a hint of petulance.
Sophie sighed. "I ca to Country J to rescue a doctor from Frank Mitchell—the doctor who perford my facial reparative surgery. He’s extrely skilled, so he cannot afford to make any mistakes. Frank Mitchell wanted to co alone, but Thomas Shannon didn’t agree. I had to work hard to persuade him. One of the conditions was that I keep him regularly updated on the situation and report my safety."
Lucifer’s voice was tinged with jealousy. "It seems Thomas Shannon really cares about you."
Lucifer felt as if his cherished treasure had been discovered and was now being targeted by soone else.
It was an awful feeling!
"Do you want to call him now?" Lucifer asked, his tone serious.
Sophie shook her head. "It’s already late. It can wait a little while. Let’s finish dinner first."
Lucifer’s lips curled in satisfaction, his voice carrying a doting tone. "MHM."
