His threatening tone stirred the rebellious blood within Sophie Sullivan.
She gave a knowing smile, though her eyes were devoid of mirth and icy cold. "Is it just to provoke you, Thomas Shannon? Besides threatening with Old Mr. Standford, what other tricks do you have? I’m telling you, even a cornered rabbit will bite. At worst, I’ll give up this face!"
She had endured enough days of being threatened and was especially fed up with his constant tactic of intimidation. No one is naturally fond of being oppressed. Nor is anyone born to be controlled by others. Sophie Sullivan was no exception.
"Miss Cecilia Branford, are you okay?" Leo stepped forward, accompanied by Lucifer’s guards.
They consciously positioned themselves behind Sophie Sullivan, forming a protective cordon.
Thomas Shannon sneered, "You said it yourself, Sophie. Don’t regret it."
Turning around, Thomas Shannon’s eyes turned sinister. "Charlie River, chop off George Stanford’s hand!"
Sophie’s heart sank. What was he saying? Old Mr. Standford is still lying in bed, critically injured, and he’s ordering his hand to be chopped off... How cruel can one person be? Sophie Sullivan finally understood that a person’s cruelty could be limitless, just like Thomas Shannon’s. As long as he could achieve his goal, he would stop at nothing.
"Stop!"
The man remained unmoved and strode away.
Sophie Sullivan chased after him, but after only two steps, she was stopped by Leo. "Miss Cecilia Branford, we’ll go."
"Leo, don’t interfere with this. I’ll handle it myself. Give ten minutes; I’ll be right back."
With those words, Sophie Sullivan dashed towards Thomas Shannon.
Thomas Shannon, holding Harry in one arm, took large, quick strides, forcing Sophie Sullivan to jog to keep up.
She firmly grabbed his arm. "Thomas Shannon, stop!"
The man remained unmoved and stepped into the elevator.
Sophie Sullivan followed him in. She glared at Charlie River and the black-clothed man who were about to follow. "Back off! Don’t you dare co in!"
Charlie River, who had already set one foot inside the elevator, glanced at Thomas Shannon. Since his Young Master hadn’t indicated otherwise, Charlie River dared not heed Sophie Sullivan.
He stepped into the elevator. Sophie Sullivan let go of Thomas Shannon and, when Charlie River was completely unprepared, shoved him out.
"Maniac, you..."
Charlie River staggered back a few steps, and the black-clothed man caught him just in ti.
Under Charlie River’s startled gaze, Sophie Sullivan closed the elevator door.
As the elevator began to descend, Sophie Sullivan looked at the silent Thomas Shannon.
"Thomas Shannon, were you joking with earlier?"
The man stared straight ahead, treating her as if she were air, not even sparing her a sideways glance.
Harry, in Thomas Shannon’s arms, OWED, stretching out a paw as if to reach her.
He was ruthlessly pressed back into Thomas Shannon’s arms.
Harry wilted...
Sophie Sullivan took a step, positioning herself in front of Thomas Shannon. She tilted her head up at him. "Thomas Shannon, are you planning to just give the cold shoulder?"
"..."
"Harry, look at this inhuman fellow! You still pay attention to , but he’s actually ignoring !"
"..."
"I heard he confiscated your dried small fish, didn’t he? How utterly inhumane!"
"..."
"Harry, don’t follow him anymore. Co with ; I’ll make sure you have an endless supply of dried small fish!"
Harry YOWLED, eager to leap from Thomas Shannon’s arms.
Sophie Sullivan chuckled, reaching out to tease Harry. "This man is cold-blooded and ruthless. In the future, whenever you see him, stay far away from him! You don’t want to just get beaten and injured; he might even chop off your paws!"
