He burst into tears, tossed aside the infusion stand, yanked out the IV needle, and clung to her legs.
"Fennie, don’t go!"
"I can’t live without you..."
"Fennie, please stay... don’t leave ..."
"I’ll let you hit , scold , whatever you want, just don’t leave , okay?"
"Fennie, can you really be so heartless and refuse to take responsibility for ?"
As he spoke, Thomas Shannon clung to her legs like a pitiable child who had been bullied, sobbing loudly.
Sophie woke up to the sound of her own laughter. Staring at the ceiling, she realized she had laughed herself awake.
She found this dream unbelievable; it was... utterly absurd. But she loved it! She’d gotten a real kick out of it!
She got out of bed and had just poured herself a glass of water when her mobile phone rang.
Who could be calling her at this hour?
Drinking her water, Sophie walked over to the bedside table, picked up her mobile, and answered, "Hello?"
"Fiona, it’s ."
"Old Mr. Standford?" Sophie’s voice sharpened with disbelief. "Are you alright?"
George Standford laughed dryly. "What could happen to ? I’m just calling for a chat since I have nothing else to do."
Sophie felt as if the world had turned surreal. George Standford had helped her leave the manor, yet sohow Thomas Shannon hadn’t punished him! It was inconceivable!
"Old Mr. Standford, tell the truth. Thomas Shannon didn’t actually hurt you, did he?"
"No, he’s been treating very well. Fiona, don’t judge an honorable man by your own petty standards. Young Master Shannon isn’t that kind of person."
"TSK TSK." Sophie took a sip of water to wet her throat. "Old Mr. Standford, you’ve turned traitor!"
When did he start taking Thomas Shannon’s side!
"Fiona, when are you coming back?"
Sophie sat down on the sofa. Gaby lay at her feet, sleeping with closed eyes.
She clenched her hand around the water glass, her knuckles turning white from the force. She slowly exhaled a long breath. "I’m not going back."
"Fiona, I forgot to tell you, the post-surgery ointnt is still with . You’ll have to co back for it."
That should do the trick, right? George Standford rubbed his chin, congratulating himself on his cleverness!
"What ointnt?"
"The one I compounded myself, a specially formulated ointnt for your face."
"You tell the prescription, and I’ll have a doctor prepare it for ."
George Standford glared. "You ungrateful girl! I made this for you out of kindness, and now you’re after my formula!"
Sophie put down the water glass and leaned back on the sofa, a troubled expression on her face. "I’m not going back, Old Mr. Standford. If you want to leave that place, I’ll send soone to get you. If you wish to stay, I won’t force you. In any case, I am not going back."
"Even if... even if Young Master Shannon is going mad thinking about you, you still won’t co back?" George Standford asked cautiously.
Sophie thought she must have misheard. "What did you say?" she asked, incredulous.
"I said, Young Master Shannon misses you so much he’s going mad. Aren’t you considering coming back?"
"Nonsense!" Despite her words, Sophie’s lips curled up slightly.
Combined with the dream she just had, a wave of delight washed over her!
Thomas Shannon, you have your days too!
Pausing, her smile suddenly froze at the corners of her lips. "Didn’t Thomas Shannon have a car accident and fall into a coma?" she asked coldly.
George Standford paused, stunned. Had that really happened? He supposed, having been cooped up in the dical office, he was simply out of the loop. Young Master Shannon had called him personally—how could he possibly still be in a coma? Obviously not!
