She asked in a muffled voice, "Is it okay now?"
"Mm," the man responded perfunctorily.
The moon was bright and the stars were few, their shadows elongated by the light.
You are in , and I am in you, intertwined as one.
「dical office.」
William Guillen sat by Fluffy Zane’s bedside, watching over her. The IV drip of fever-reducing dicine had finished.
Her fever had indeed subsided so, but the doctor said they couldn’t let their guard down, as her condition might relapse.
So, William dared not sleep.
He stayed by her bedside the entire ti, constantly observing her complexion and occasionally asuring her body temperature.
He repeated this sa task over and over again until daybreak.
Fluffy Zane woke up in a daze, her throat aching and extrely uncomfortable. She opened her eyes and saw William Guillen, who had fallen asleep at her bedside.
Thinking she was still dreaming, Fluffy Zane raised her hand and slapped her own forehead.
SLAP.
The crisp sound successfully woke William Guillen.
He raised his head, his gaze landing precisely on her face. Seeing her complexion looked normal, he still reached out worriedly to touch her forehead. "Fluffy," he asked, "how do you feel? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"
"I... I’m thirsty." Fluffy Zane stared blankly at him. Why was he here?
Had he been watching over her all night?
"Wait." William Guillen got up to pour her so water.
With his back to her, William Guillen poured water while explaining, "Last night you had a fever, a high one of 40 degrees. I brought you to the dical office. The doctor said your condition is quite serious and your high fever might return, so I stayed here to watch over you, to prevent you from frying your brain."
William Guillen returned to the bedside and sat down, holding a water cup in one hand and helping her sit up with the other. Fluffy Zane reached out to take the cup.
"Lean on ."
Seeing her look so listless yet still trying to act strong, an unnad anger flared in William Guillen’s heart.
Fluffy Zane stared blankly for a mont, not quite comprehending. "Huh?"
So stupid!
William Guillen helped her lean against his chest, holding the cup to her lips. His voice was slightly hoarse. "Didn’t you say you were thirsty? Drink up."
Such good treatnt... This was a first for her.
She sipped the water carefully, occasionally lifting her gaze to sneak glances at him.
What was wrong with William Guillen?
Did he take the wrong dicine?
He wasn’t like the usual William Guillen at all...
"Don’t look at like that," he said. "I won’t be able to stop myself from laughing."
"What?"
Fluffy Zane’s mind was muddled, unable to keep up with his leaping thoughts.
"The way you sneak glances at , you look like a shifty-eyed hamster."
Fluffy Zane: "..."
Her face flushed. After quickly taking a few sips of water, she retreated from his embrace and slowly lay down by herself.
"I’m fine now. You can go."
William Guillen never expected that after caring for her tirelessly all night, never leaving her side, he would be t with such a heartless dismissal.
He clenched the water cup and slamd it onto the bedside table. "Fluffy Zane, you’re truly Sophie Sullivan’s friend. You’ve mastered this art of being heartless perfectly, down to the last detail."
Fluffy Zane’s face flushed, and she was just about to defend herself.
But William Guillen interrupted her. "I took care of you all night, and not even a single thank you? Is this how you treat soone who’s concerned about you?"
Concerned...
Was he really concerned about her?
Even though she knew she shouldn’t read too much into it, Fluffy Zane couldn’t control her wildly pounding heart.
Her thoughts also began to spin out of control, her imagination running wild.
