The food in the Imperial Palace was all tributes. The Chu family had merchant caravans, but Ye Muyu would never specifically dispatch them just to get some particular food. For example, the West Lake hairy crabs and the giant lobsters from the sea would all be dead upon delivery, ruining their taste. Thus, Ye Muyu didn’t care for them much.
However, the Imperial Palace had live ones, showcasing its opulence.
“The Emperor has always been generous with his subjects.” Chu Heng said with a smile in his eyes, looking at the seafood delicacies on the table. He embraced her waist somewhat reluctantly.
Ye Muyu also didn’t want him to leave, so she didn’t push him away and obediently let him hold her.
“I’ve arranged for some personnel at the residence. If there’s any danger, just take this token and mand the private guards to seek protection from the Royal Family’s Imperial Guard.”
Listening to his arrangements, Ye Muyu knew he had put a lot of thought into it.
Especially being able to allocate some of the Imperial Guards for her protection; ordinary officials couldn’t achieve that. She wondered how he negotiated with the Emperor.

Early the next day, before Chu Heng entered the palace, he encountered Duke Zheng, Liu Yanzhen, at the palace gates.

Lu Chuan relayed the message, and shortly after, a response was received, agreeing to it.
Chu Heng showed no surprise, as if he had expected it.
Lu Chuan watched clearly, admiring his master’s posure even more.
He himself couldn’t enter the palace. After Chu Heng got off the carriage, he said to Lu Chuan, “Go back and assist the lady of the house. The coachman will wait here.”
After giving instructions, Chu Heng stepped towards the palace gate. Duke Zheng was already waiting. Seeing him approach, they walked in together side by side.
