It was evident that the flower on Vileplu’s head already had a noticeable notch, bitten by Skorupi’s fangs, with a bit of pink nectar slowly seeping from the wound.
Vileplu showed clear signs of pain. In addition to the wound on its flower, the blow Skorupi delivered by slamming it against the tree had also left its body exhausted.
However, Skorupi didn’t co out completely unscathed either. Although Vileplu hadn’t physically moved him, the force it exerted was considerable, leaving him sowhat dazed.
Fortunately, Skorupi had quadruple resistance against Grass-type moves like Giga Drain, so he didn’t suffer much damage.
The effect of Giga Drain didn’t fully manifest either, as the amount of energy Vileplu absorbed wasn’t enough to counteract the damage Skorupi had inflicted.
"Take advantage of the montum, Skorupi! Charge and use Poison Jab! Let’s see if it can match your strength now," Cain said with a smile.
With every battle, Skorupi’s strength shone brighter. So far, there wasn’t a single Pokémon that could compete with him in terms of physical power.
"Cha!" cried Skorupi, shaking his head as he charged once again toward the weakened Vileplu.
Vileplu, after being thrown to the ground, could barely recover. Seeing Skorupi rushing toward her again, her expression turned to panic.
She knew she had collided with an impenetrable wall. She had always relied on her strength to crush opponents, but this ti, she was the one being crushed.
However, realizing that escape wasn’t an option, Vileplu decided to face him again. She knew she couldn’t run, so her only choice was to fight back.
Shaking the injured flower on her head, she began scattering several powders from her bloom: Poison Powder, Stun Spore, and Sleep Powder.
Simultaneously, her feet, firmly planted on the ground, began to root themselves in the soil. Fine roots dug deep, extracting energy from the earth.
The move Ingrain allowed Vileplu to recover so energy while anchoring herself more securely to the ground.
With a fierce expression, she raised her right hand and launched the Giga Drain move again.
It was her last desperate attempt.
Skorupi grinned as he used his powerful pincers to grab Vileplu’s hands, blocking her Giga Drain.
Without halting his charge, Skorupi broke Vileplu’s roots and slamd her against a tree with a loud crash. This ti, Skorupi’s tail, which had remained still until now, shot forward like a bolt, injecting venom into Vileplu’s body before she could react.
As Skorupi stepped back, Vileplu had already fallen unconscious, her body emanating a purple glow—a sign that she had been poisoned.
If Vileplu didn’t wake up soon and treat her poisoning, she might not survive and would end up as another special nutrient in this forest’s soil.
Perhaps, the nutrients she left behind could be enough for several Gloom to evolve into new Vileplu.
After Vileplu’s fall, the Gloom and Oddish watching from the shadows disappeared instantly. So Oddish even buried themselves in the ground, leaving only a few leaves visible, almost indistinguishable from the rest of the forest’s vegetation.
Cain tossed a Pokéball at Vileplu.
Even though he wasn’t interested in training this Pokémon, he knew she was still valuable. If soone else thought they could ta her, he could give her to one of his subordinates to try.
The capture t no resistance, and when Cain released her again, Vileplu still hadn’t woken up.
Skorupi absorbed the poison from her body, and Cain treated her wounds rudintarily. Being a Grass-type Pokémon, her recovery ability was quite good.
Additionally, Vileplu had the Chlorophyll ability, so if she were in a sunny, open area, she could heal quickly on her own.
The moves Synthesis and Ingrain combined could have terrifying effects.
"Good job, here’s your reward," Cain said, smiling as he handed so Pokéblocks to Skorupi, who happily devoured them, recovering so energy.
Skorupi’s physical growth had reached its limit. Even if he continued using supplents, the effect wouldn’t be as noticeable.
Supplents don’t always work the sa for every Pokémon, but in Skorupi’s case, the results were surprisingly positive, especially when combined with the Pokéblocks Cain prepared.
"But this isn’t your best performance yet. You have so much potential to improve."
After praising him, Cain began explaining to Skorupi how he could have done better and what areas needed improvent.
"For example, as I’ve trained you before, you should identify your opponent’s weaknesses and exploit them rcilessly. Although Vileplu was a new opponent for you and it’s not easy to find a weak spot in an initial encounter, you must learn to do so."
"In the future, you’ll face many unfamiliar Pokémon, and you’ll need to pinpoint their weaknesses."
"Your ability is Sniper. If you had identified Vileplu’s weak spot in your initial charge and used Bug Bite, she might not have even had a chance to counterattack."
"With your strength combined with the multiplied damage from your Sniper ability, you could have defeated her in a single blow."
Hearing Cain, Skorupi showed a thoughtful expression, recalling Vileplu and trying to figure out where her weak point was.
"I know your rapid growth has made you forget so of the concepts I’ve taught you, but during our journey, I want you to focus on finding the weaknesses of the Pokémon you face."
"If you can master that, you’ll be able to take down opponents with a single strike, and you have the potential to do it!"
"Cha!" roared Skorupi, showing his determination.
He rembered Cain’s teachings and the thrill of identifying a weak spot and taking down an opponent in a single blow.
Of all Cain’s main Pokémon, Skorupi was the one who craved battle the most.
With Skorupi and Sneasel, Cain continued advancing through the forest. Sneasel had observed the entire fight but hadn’t intervened. At his current level, Vileplu wouldn’t have been a challenge, so the battle was perfect for Skorupi.
