Now reading: Chapter 495: Sneasel’s Effort from Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom (Re-Upload), a Fantasy novel by GoldenDragonKing.

Obtaining an unknown ga Stone made Cain very happy.

At the mont, he didn’t have any Pokémon capable of ga Evolving, but he knew that once his Pokémon grew, several would be able to do so.

The closest to achieving it would be Haunter, once it evolved into Gengar, making it Cain’s first Pokémon to et the minimum requirents for ga Evolution.

Next in line would be the Pokémon from his secondary team: Blaziken, the final form of Torchic; Aggron, Aron’s final evolution; Swampert, Mudkip’s final evolution; and Tyranitar, Larvitar’s final form.

Five Pokémon in total capable of ga Evolving, representing a significant leap in his power. Although there are generally few Pokémon capable of ga Evolution, Cain already had quite a high proportion of them.

Cain could only hope that the ga Stone he had found would be usable.

After leaving the lake, Cain realized that there were still secrets left to uncover there. He had only explored the cave where Kabutops lived, not other areas that could hold valuable discoveries. Still, the Kabutops tribe alone was fascinating to him.

Kabutops is a Water/Rock-type Pokémon with good resistances, being four tis weak to Grass and twice weak to Fighting, Ground, and Electric, but with reasonable defensive capabilities.

It also had a quadruple resistance to Fire and resisted Normal, Flying, Poison, and Ice types. With the ability Swift Swim, Kabutops fit perfectly into the rain team Cain was building.

With a physical attack stat of 115 and a speed stat of 80, Kabutops could serve as the perfect physical attacker, a kind of spearhead for his team. For this reason, if he ever returned to Kabutops’ territory, whether to continue exploring or capture one, it would undoubtedly be worth it.

As he moved away from the lake, the day began to darken, but Cain had no intention of returning.

"Slowking, what’s the farthest coordinate you can sense with your psychic powers?" Cain asked.

After a mont of concentration, Slowking indicated to Cain that it could sense a distant point. The two then vanished from their current location, reappearing deep in the forest.

As night fell, the dayti Pokémon retreated to their dens, and the forest grew more dangerous. However, Cain was here for a reason: Sneasel.

Sneasel’s evolution only occurs at night, and Cain wanted to take advantage of this opportunity. During the day, Cain had made Sneasel participate in nurous battles, acting as the main attacker against Crawdaunt and Whiscash.

Additionally, he had given Sneasel a Razor Claw so ti ago, so now it only needed to battle and gain enough experience to evolve.

Sneasel understood that its trainer was doing all this for its benefit, though it didn’t entirely grasp the reason. However, it had an intuition that it was related to its evolution, sothing that puzzled it, as it had always believed its species couldn’t evolve.

During its life in the mountains, it had heard others of its kind say they were born and died without changing. Despite this, Cain hadn’t said anything, and Sneasel didn’t ask; both maintained a mutual silence of understanding.

Cain trusted that Sneasel wouldn’t disappoint him, while Sneasel had unwavering faith in its trainer.

Cain rembered how Sneasel had been at first: a proud Pokémon that resisted with all its might. If it hadn’t been for the Miltank milk, he might not have captured it so easily.

Although Sneasel didn’t have a strong presence within the team, with its reserved and cold personality, it had earned the trust of Slowking and other Pokémon like Honchkrow, who helped maintain harmony in the group. Over ti, Sneasel had opened its heart to the others.

In every training task assigned by Cain, Sneasel always fulfilled its duties, but recently it had started increasing its workload on its own. Cain noticed but didn’t say anything.

Despite being one of the Pokémon with the highest potential on the team, Sneasel felt it was no longer as important as before and therefore trained harder to prove its worth.

Sneasel, who thought it couldn’t evolve, had been working intensely on mastering Ice-type energy. During breaks or while Cain prepared als, Sneasel practiced creating small ice spheres, manipulating them to change their shape and control them with precision.

This type of training required absolute mastery of Ice energy, demanding efficient energy charge and recovery.

Despite its rapid level growth, Sneasel remained the best on the team in terms of body and energy control. Though it couldn’t grow physically, Sneasel focused on maximizing its body’s developnt, determined to contribute in the best way possible.

In fact, besides Slowking, Sneasel was the first Pokémon to master a combination move. While Honchkrow, Haunter, and Skorupi had yet to achieve this, Sneasel was the first to combine the moves tal Claw and Ice Punch to create a powerful combined technique.
