The Poké Ball burst open, and a stream of red light shot out, landing on the ground.
A Pokémon appeared on the battlefield. It looked very similar to Mankey, but taller and larger.
It was Mankey's evolution! Priape!!!
After evolving, Priape lost the fur on its limbs. Its hands now resembled boxing gloves.
Its legs were more muscular and developed, and black shackles appeared around its wrists and ankles.
The tail was gone.

Priape roared. Because it was angry, a throbbing cross-shaped vein popped out on its forehead.
Kenji was a little surprised. He hadn't expected Bartel's second Pokémon to be Priape.

Mankey, already a powder keg of rage thanks to Moxie, exploded instantly upon seeing the naked contempt in Priape's eyes. Its anger was fully ignited.
"Mankey!!! Use Close Combat!!"
Hearing the command, Mankey charged forward instantly, determined to teach this arrogant evolution a lesson.
"Priape! Don't be careless!! Use Close Combat!!!"
Bartel warned seriously.
Hearing the seriousness in Bartel's tone, Priape dropped its contemptuous attitude and rushed to et Mankey.
Both Pokémon unleashed Close Combat simultaneously. From the mont they t, fists flew like a torrential storm, greeting each other with violence.

The level gap was too terrifying. Even with the rage boost and the Moxie Attack buff, Mankey couldn't bridge it.
With a heavy punch from Priape, Mankey finally couldn't hold on anymore. It was sent flying backward.
Mankey crashed heavily onto the ground.
The massive level difference, combined with the defense-lowering side effect of Close Combat, ant that Mankey was heavily injured in just one exchange.
"Huo..." Priape snorted hot air from its nose, letting out a mocking sound, laughing at Mankey's weakness.
Bartel breathed a sigh of relief. It seed this Mankey was only slightly higher level than Throh. And Priape was its evolved form, after all.
But before Bartel could relax for long, Mankey, despite Priape's mockery, swayed and stood up again.
Mankey was clearly heavily injured. Its movents were extrely slow, every tiny motion causing imnse pain.
But contrasting its nearly depleted stamina, the red glow around Mankey's body beca extrely pronounced. It looked as if blood-red smoke was drifting off its entire form.
This signaled that Mankey's rage had reached its absolute limit.
"Haya!!! —"
Mankey roared. In the next instant, a dazzling, brilliant white light erupted from its body, enveloping it completely.
Evolution Energy!!!!
Bartel was startled but quickly cald down. It seed Mankey wasn't holding an Everstone.
Without the suppression of an Everstone, it wasn't strange for a Mankey far above the evolution level to evolve mid-battle.
But Mankey was already heavily injured. Even if it evolved now, it was likely too late to turn the tide.
Kenji was delighted. As expected, the mockery from its evolved form was the perfect catalyst for Mankey's evolution.
The light grew brighter, and the silhouette within began to change shape.
The light gradually faded, signaling the end of the evolution.
When the light vanished completely, Mankey was gone. In its place stood a fully evolved Priape.

I've never heard of evolving draining a Pokémon's stamina like that.
Bartel's head was full of question marks.
The referee was also confused. He didn't understand why the newly evolved Priape suddenly collapsed. He hesitated, wondering if he should wave the flag and declare Priape unable to battle.
But... if Priape had lost consciousness, why was that red smoke around its body dancing so violently??!
On the other side, after a brief mont of confusion, Kenji's gaze focused on the frantic red smoke swirling around Priape.
Could it be...
