"Mii~"
"Let introduce everyone—this is Ponpon, this is V, and these are Lilligant and Bloodmoon."
Sora introduced his companions to Buneary. The little one looked slightly nervous.
Mostly because Bloodmoon Ursaluna's appearance was simply too intimidating.
Fortunately, gentle Lilligant, along with kind-hearted Ogerpon and Victini, quickly welcod Buneary into the group. Before long, the four little ones were getting along like old friends.
Sora also checked the tree hollow where Buneary had been living. Inside were only a few leftover berries—nothing of real value.
"Alright, let's go."
He called the group together, mounted Ursaluna, and returned to their previous campsite before continuing toward Eterna Forest.
Ti passed quickly, and soon it was the next morning.
"Buii~"
Waking from unconsciousness, Eevee felt a bit of strength returning to her body. She slowly opened her eyes and cautiously examined her surroundings.
The first thing she saw was Buneary's familiar sleeping face.
That alone made her feel safe.
But soon, Eevee noticed sothing strange.
This wasn't their tree hollow.
It was a tent.
Eevee had never seen a tent before, yet she imdiately sensed that the environnt had changed.
"Buii?"
She didn't panic.
Instead, she forced herself to stay calm and began recalling her mories.
She had gone out searching for food, accidentally gotten caught in a battle between alpha-level Pokémon, and suffered severe injuries.
After barely escaping, she encountered vicious Bug-type Pokémon and was poisoned.
If Buneary hadn't worried about her safety and gone searching, Eevee likely would have died in the wilderness.
For several days afterward, her consciousness had been hazy.
Her friend had gone out repeatedly to find food, caring for her with everything she had.
Then, at so point, a very gentle voice had appeared—followed by a warm embrace and a strange, comforting space.
"Where am I?"
"Am I… still alive?"
Curious about her situation, Eevee nudged Buneary.
The latter woke instantly. Seeing her friend conscious again, she burst into joy and pounced forward.
"Mii! Mii~ Mii~ Mii~"
Buneary rubbed her face against Eevee's neck, eyes brimming with tears. She was genuinely overwheld with relief.
"Hm?"
The commotion woke the others.
Sora sat up and, upon seeing Eevee and Buneary hugging each other, smiled.
"That's wonderful, Buneary. Eevee made it through."
Over the past days, he had repeatedly taken Eevee out of her Poké Ball to monitor her condition.
Last night, her fever had finally begun to drop.
To give her more space to rest, he had chosen not to return her to the ball.
And now—
She was awake.
That ant she had passed the most dangerous stage and her body had begun repairing itself.
"Poné~"
"Bi~"
Ogerpon and Victini were delighted as well. They eagerly approached Eevee to greet her.
"Buii?"
Eevee startled slightly, clearly not expecting so many unfamiliar faces around her.
Especially Sora.
That was a human.
She wasn't afraid of humans—living deep in the wilderness, she had never been mistreated by one. No trauma, no fear.
If anything, she was curious.
This was the first human she had ever t.
Strangely enough, even Pokémon that had never encountered humans could still instantly recognize them.
It was as if Pokémon and humans shared so deep biological connection.
They could understand human speech.
Sense emotions.
Distinguish kindness from malice.
And once captured, acknowledge humans as partners.
"Hello there, Eevee."
Sora gently stroked her head and smiled.
"My na is Sora. I'm sorry—I captured you without asking for your permission."
"Buii…"
Eevee shook her head, signaling that it was fine.
She had already learned from Buneary what had happened.
He had saved her.
As for being captured, it had been done for her safety.
Besides, she didn't mind becoming a human's Pokémon.
"Mii~"
Seeing Eevee willing to stay with Sora, Buneary felt deeply relieved.
That ant they wouldn't be separated.
"Then, officially—welco to the team, Eevee."
"Buii~~"
Eevee wagged her tail happily and rubbed her head against Sora's palm, expressing her affection.
"Haha."
Dropping any restraint, Sora picked her up and began petting her enthusiastically.
"Buii~~~"
Eevee didn't dislike it at all.
In fact, she found it comfortable.
Much like cats or dogs being scratched by their owners, she enjoyed the sensation.
Afterward, Sora formally introduced the rest of the team to Eevee.
With that, his party officially reached six Pokémon—a full standard traveling lineup.
Over the next two days, Sora trekked through the mountain range, living a rough outdoor life.
Food in his backpack dwindled quickly.
Fortunately, the forest provided abundant resources.
Streams occasionally yielded fish and shrimp.
And unlike what many might assu, the Pokémon world did have ordinary animals—cattle, sheep, wild chickens, rabbits.
Most were herbivores.
Since arriving in this world, Sora had never seen large carnivores like lions or tigers.
He suspected this was due to the ecosystem itself.
No matter how fierce a predator was, it couldn't compete with Pokémon.
A single move from a Pokémon could easily defeat even the strongest beast.
Only low-threat herbivores, with high reproduction rates and plentiful food sources, could maintain stable populations.
Thinking about it carefully—
How large was a forest?
Take Eterna Forest, spanning hundreds of kiloters.
How many Pokémon actually lived there?
Before coming to this world, Sora had assud Pokémon were everywhere.
But reality proved otherwise.
Often, he could walk for half an hour in the forest before encountering just a few Pokémon.
More commonly, he saw ordinary insects, rodents, and small wildlife.
So in truth—
There was no need to worry about Buneary and Eevee surviving in the wild.
They had never lacked food.
In the ecological chain, the lowest level consisted of harmless insects.
Above them were rodents and herbivores that fed on those resources.
And only then ca Pokémon like Buneary and Eevee—creatures that primarily lived on berries and natural vegetation.
