Now reading: Chapter 32 32: Capturing Eevee from Pokémon: Starting From Zero as a Legendary Pokémon, a Action novel by YonkoSlayer.

Eevee's appearance resembled a small brown fox, with fluffy cream-colored fur around its neck and tail.

Its legs were short and slender, each paw bearing three toes and soft pink pads.

"Buii~"

Coming out from the dim burrow into the bright forest, Eevee squinted its brown eyes. Its long rabbit-like ears trembled slightly, clearly uneasy in the sudden light.

"Mii~"

Buneary gently set Eevee down on the grass, and Sora imdiately stepped forward to examine her.

"Her body temperature is very high—she's running a fever."

"The bones in her left foreleg show obvious damage. She must have suffered a serious physical attack."

Sora couldn't claim to be a dical expert.

But his very first job had been at a Pokémon Center in the Unova region, where Nurse Joy had taught him quite a bit about ergency care.

"Lilligant, help pour so water."

"V, get the dicine—the bottle for reducing fever."

With the help of his two partners, Sora quickly administered fever dicine formulated specifically for Pokémon.

Eevee's body was so weak that she likely couldn't even tell who was caring for her. She obediently swallowed the oral dicine without resistance.

"Mii~"

Buneary watched anxiously, small hands clasped together, as Sora treated Eevee's injured leg.

"For now, this is the best we can do."

After spraying wound dicine onto the injury, Sora reassured her:

"Pokémon have strong natural healing abilities. As long as she gets enough energy, she should recover fairly quickly."

Buneary asking for food earlier had been perfectly reasonable.

Wild Pokémon often survived injuries through sheer endurance.

Even in Eevee's condition, as long as she avoided further danger, she would eventually recover.

At worst, she might lose so vitality and future potential.

Compared to losing her life, that was a small price.

"However, if we want her to recover faster, I suggest keeping her under observation for a while."

Sora then voiced his real intention:

He wanted to keep Eevee by his side so he could care for her properly.

"Mii?"

Naturally, Buneary didn't catch the implication.

"Ahem."

Left with no choice, Sora spoke plainly.

"What I an is… I'd like to catch her and make her our companion."

Yes.

Sora intended to capture Eevee.

In the Pokémon world, Eevee was actually quite rare.

Since arriving in this world, he had only seen a handful—and most had already evolved into Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon.

Being able to personally raise an Eevee from the beginning was sothing few trainers would ever refuse.

More importantly, Sora believed in fate.

If they had t here, deep in the wilderness, then perhaps this little one was ant to join his team.

"Mii!"

This ti, Buneary understood.

She thought for a mont, then quickly nodded in agreent.

Sora was a good person.

He gave food.

He treated Eevee's injuries.

Buneary trusted that he would care for Eevee well and never mistreat her.

Though reluctant to part, she wouldn't stand in the way of Eevee's chance at a better future.

"And you too."

Sora didn't want to play favorites. He turned to Buneary with the sa invitation.

"Buneary, would you like to beco my Pokémon as well?"

This decision wasn't impulsive.

First—she was undeniably adorable, perfectly matching his love for fluffy Pokémon.

Second—Buneary had real potential.

Her evolution, Lopunny, even possessed a ga form. In a standard team, she could function as a fast physical attacker—an excellent counterpart to Ogerpon.

And besides—

A family should stay together.

Rather than separating them, it makes more sense to bring them along as a pair.

"Mii?!"

Buneary's face lit up with surprise.

She hadn't expected happiness to arrive so suddenly.

Freedom?

What was freedom worth, really?

Waking up early every day, risking danger just to find food in the forest—there was nothing romantic about that life.

To Buneary, being captured wasn't sothing to resist.

Especially not by Sora.

She liked him and was willing to beco his Pokémon.

"Then please take care of from now on, Buneary."

Seeing her agreent, Sora imdiately took out two Poké Balls and gently tapped them against Eevee and Buneary's heads.

The capture process went smoothly.

Eevee was already half-unconscious, and Buneary's Poké Ball didn't even shake.

"Poné?"

Nearby, Ogerpon watched the capture unfold with wide-eyed astonishnt.

She wasn't opposed to gaining more companions.

After all, a bigger family ant more warmth and liveliness.

What surprised her was Sora's thod.

Why does this feel familiar?

After thinking about it, she realized—

This was exactly how she herself had joined.

"What's wrong, Ponpon?"

"Poné~"

She shook her head, pretending nothing was wrong.

"Bi-ni, bi-ni bi-ni~"

Floating in the air, Victini shot Ogerpon a knowing look.

After all, she too considered herself a "victim" of Sora's recruitnt tactics.

"Lilligant~~"

Lilligant covered her mouth, quietly giggling. As the very first "victim," she chose to simply watch without comnt.

"Hey, my way of capturing Pokémon is the proper way, okay!"

"Bi-ni bi-ni bi-ni…"

Sora scooped Victini into his arms and tickled her belly with his finger until she burst into helpless laughter.

In his view, the most authentic way to capture a Pokémon was simple:

et them.

Earn their trust.

Receive their willing acceptance.

Not just throw Poké Balls at every Pokémon in sight.

"Co out, Buneary."

After playfully disciplining Victini, Sora released Buneary from her Poké Ball.

As for Eevee—

In her current condition, long-distance travel wasn't suitable. It was better for her to remain inside the Poké Ball and rest.

Yes—her.

And Buneary as well.

Both of Sora's newest companions were adorable little girls.

Determining a Pokémon's gender was basic knowledge for any breeder.

Buneary was a common species in Sinnoh, and Eevee was distinctive enough that assessing their physical condition—and gender—was straightforward.
