"I rember Volcanion should be male, right?"
As ntioned before, mythical and legendary Pokémon in gas were set as genderless mainly because players couldn't breed them.
But in the real world, most Pokémon had a concept of gender.
Even if not biologically, they often distinguished themselves psychologically.
For example, Magearna—an artificial chanical Pokémon—yet in spirit, she was unmistakably a sweet young girl.
The sa applied to Diancie, known as the Princess of Gems, and the mischievous Hoopa.
Those two were also targets Sora hoped to find in Kalos.
The only problem was simple:
He had no idea where they were.
That left him hesitating—
Should he stay in Kalos and search thoroughly?
Or first secure the Pokémon he could realistically obtain?
"Well… let's take it step by step."
Sora released Amaura from her Poké Ball.
She hadn't been seriously hurt—Sylveon had held back during the battle.
"Welco to the team, Yukihi."
The nickna was convenient.
Because once Amaura evolved into Aurorus, the na Yukihi would still fit perfectly.
"Awuu~~"
After becoming Sora's Pokémon, Amaura's affection toward him rose quickly, and her posture relaxed.
Nearby wild Pokémon watched with visible envy.
Life in the wild was free, yes—
But finding food alone was exhausting.
Bad luck could an running into territorial conflicts between dominant Pokémon, getting injured, or going hungry.
Still, not every Pokémon envied her.
Those with strong pride rarely submitted to humans easily.
Unless Sora demonstrated overwhelming strength.
Pokémon desired power.
Following humans was often a strategic choice—
a partnership to grow stronger.
After all, most Pokémon lived far longer than humans.
To them, a few decades was only a fraction of a lifeti.
When their trainer passed away—or retired—they could simply return to the wild.
From a purely practical perspective, Pokémon rarely lost out.
Of course, bonds varied.
Pokémon like Ogerpon and Victini were different.
Even if Sora died soday—
they would never leave.
Just like Victini, who guarded Eindoak for a thousand years because of a single promise from an old king.
Or Ogerpon, who stayed in her cave for centuries to preserve mories of soone she loved.
Sotis, Pokémon emotions ran deeper than human ones.
Co to think of it… that kind of devotion can feel heavy, Sora thought.
He wanted them to live happily—
not remain trapped in the past forever.
Next, he introduced Amaura to the rest of the team.
She had a gentle temperant.
Her body was chilly, but her heart was unexpectedly warm.
She bonded fastest with Sylveon and Victini.
Soon, the three little ones ford a tight trio, pestering Buneary for more food.
"Mi~~"
Buneary sighed helplessly and went back to cooking.
"Hey, you three—don't wear her out."
"Mi!"
Buneary insisted it was fine.
In truth, she enjoyed it.
Her strength in battle was limited.
But her talent for cooking made her proud.
Feeding everyone was her mission.
I'm fired up, mi!!
"Alright, is everything packed?"
After resting by the lake, Sora gathered the team.
Amaura, being the newest mber, looked confused.
"Awuu?"
"Right, Yukihi—you just joined, so you don't know the plan yet."
He pulled two sketches from his backpack.
They depicted Volcanion and Magearna exactly as he rembered them.
"Have you ever seen Pokémon like these?"
Amaura studied the drawings carefully.
Her bright eyes widened.
Then she suddenly exclaid:
"I've seen him! That big one—awuu!"
"Easy, easy, calm down."
Naturally, Sora couldn't understand her directly, so Victini translated.
Within monts, he obtained valuable information.
Volcanion was regarded as a guardian of the Nebel Plateau.
Well—that description wasn't entirely accurate.
It was more that many Pokémon had received help from Volcanion at so point.
Over ti, his influence grew.
Eventually, he beca sothing like a regional authority—a respected protector.
"With his strength, that makes sense," Sora said.
"Do you know where he is now?"
Amaura shook her head.
Volcanion was elusive.
Pokémon saw him occasionally—
But no one knew his exact location.
"Understood."
Sora nodded.
"That's still very helpful information."
He turned to Victini and Ogerpon.
"Vee, Pon—now it's your turn."
He decided to split up and gather intelligence from Pokémon across the plateau.
Victini had unmatched social skills.
A true networking expert among Pokémon.
Back in Eindoak, Sora had witnessed her absurd ability to make friends.
She had even been the one to find Ogerpon in Kitakami.
"Bi-ni~~"
For Victini, finding Pokémon was practically second nature.
If she could locate Ogerpon—
tracking down Volcanion should be well within reach.
"Good. I trust you."
Then he turned to Ogerpon and spoke more carefully.
Her strength was unquestionable.
Across the entire Nebel Plateau, even Volcanion might struggle in a one-on-one fight against her—especially considering her mask-switching abilities and potential Terastalization.
The only concern was social, not combat.
Ogerpon was shy.
A little socially anxious.
Sora wasn't sure whether she could successfully gather information from strangers.
