It wasn't surprising that the Mamoswine clan could develop to such an extent. Their strength completely matched their appearance; they were exactly as powerful as they looked. With an Ice and Ground typing, if they further awakened their Hidden Ability, Thick Fat, they would practically be born rulers of the snowfield. Even without Thick Fat, awakening Snow Cloak was quite decent, and the probability of having this ability wasn't low.
Of course, Pokémon of the Mamoswine species were still in the process of gradually growing stronger. During the future Ice Age, they would beco the overlords of this planet for a period of ti, replacing the current status of Dragon-type Pokémon in the Ancient Era.
Below them, the Alpha Mamoswine looked up at Kazuya and brother-kun in the sky, letting out a roar full of intimidation. He didn't see the tiny Floette, only viewing the fire dragon brothers as a threat.
Fire wasn't necessarily a danger to an Alpha Mamoswine with the Thick Fat ability, but in this snowfield, fire possessed absolute power. It was an existence that made all Ice-type Pokémon feel deeply uneasy.
"Roar?" Charizard turned his head to look at his older brother.
This pig-nosed elephant is so arrogant, shouldn't we thrash him?
"Are you crazy? We technically invaded their territory, and they're rely using a roar to drive us away. That's already giving us plenty of face. Don't go learning from those thugs at the volcano." Kazuya reached out and slapped brother-kun, unable to help frowning.
Ever since the Dragon Clan and the volcano dragon clan began "interacting," his little brother had also made a few Charizard friends. Kazuya hadn't stopped him, feeling his little brother needed to know peers of the sa species. But if his little brother was going to be corrupted by those dragons, he would ruthlessly step in.
As for the Mamoswine below, they hadn't provoked them, so why start a fight? Besides, that Alpha Mamoswine's level was definitely exceptionally high. While not quite at the Champion level, he was absolutely at the mid-to-high Elite Four level. If Kazuya were to deal with him, who would handle the other dozens of Mamoswine and Piloswine?
"Roar." Charizard curled his lip.
Getting scolded by his older brother made him unhappy. He wasn't a kid anymore and didn't want to be lectured; it made him lose face.
The Frozen Ocean Boundary
"Let's go check out other places." Kazuya beat his wings forcefully, accelerating forward.
In barely over half an hour, the trio of Pokémon reached the northernmost edge of the snowfield. At this mont, Kazuya was stunned.
Further north of the snowfield was an endless icy ocean. Massive sheets of ice floated on the sea surface, making Kazuya feel a bit dazed. He wondered if there was another continent on the other side of this frozen ocean.
"Flo-ette." Floette chid in with a complaint.
Her words mirrored exactly what Kazuya was thinking. The area of this snowfield was simply too small, almost matching the size of the swamp.
Another point was, what exactly was going on with this continent? This was Kazuya's sixth year in this world, and he hadn't road too far to explore. After all, when his strength was weak, running around blindly was no different from seeking death. Yet even so, he could sense sothing amiss through the distribution of Pokémon.
The Pokémon of the Ancient Era had no regional distinctions. Take the grassland where the Dragon Clan lived; Pokémon from various regions of the League Era could be seen there, making it look like a massive hotchpotch. Yes, just like a massive Kalos region where one could encounter Pokémon from every single region.
Now, Kazuya's mind was even more muddled. He completely couldn't deduce which future region he was currently located in based on the known terrain. But thinking about it, it was quite normal. After all, separated by such an imnse ocean of ti, it could entirely be treated as two different worlds. Perhaps this snowfield beneath his feet would completely sink to the bottom of the sea in the future.
"Let's head back, there's nothing much in this snowfield," Kazuya said, turning around to leave.
This snowfield posed virtually zero danger to their Dragon Clan. Dragon-type Pokémon wouldn't want to co here, and the Pokémon here wouldn't want to leave the snowfield either. It could be described as an isolated paradise that could be completely ignored.
However, on the way back, Kazuya suddenly noticed the base of a certain mountain in the snowfield. An adorable little guy stepped out from a massive cave entrance, curiously blinking its eyes and wagging its tail at Kazuya in the sky. This innocent, dopey appearance was practically inviting predators to co and eat it.
"Oh, there's actually an Aurorus clan here. They should be considered 'Ice Dragons' in the Ancient Era, right?" Kazuya murmured without stopping.
The one peeking its head out of the cave below was an Amaura. Kazuya was no stranger to this species. Back when he and Cynthia went to the Nebel Plateau, there was an introverted little Amaura there. If there was a difference... the Amaura below had absolutely nothing to do with being "little."
Standing at four ters tall, it was almost catching up to an adult Cyclizar. An adult Aurorus would probably stand at over eight ters tall, matching so Alpha Pokémon. Looking at this Amaura's condition, its quality of life was clearly excellent. It must live happily every single day.
Then, without a doubt, a powerful Aurorus clan must reside within that mountain. Only in this way could they properly protect the Amaura, allowing this innocent and sluggish pack of little guys to grow up happily.
Moreover... Kazuya frowned and examined the height of that cave entrance a bit more. Exaggerated. It was at least over fifty ters high. He could deduce with a 99% probability that the Overlord of the snowfield was the leader of this Aurorus clan below.
"Cute," Kazuya muttered.
If this were the League Era, he would definitely go down and snuggle with that Amaura. But unfortunately, this was the brutal Ancient Era. To prevent misunderstandings and bad things from happening, he'd better skip the snuggling.
"Flo-ette..." Floette followed Kazuya's gaze and noticed the Amaura.
Those adorable, large azure eyes made her heart completely lt. If only the Dragon Clan could absorb the Aurorus clan as well.
"Stop dreaming. The Aurorus clan likely has no natural predators in this snowfield. Facing zero threats, they have no reason to join the Dragon Clan. Furthermore, this place is too far from our territory." Kazuya guessed Floette's thoughts and dispelled her idea.
If his guess was correct, this Aurorus clan living inside the mountain truly possessed an Ice and Dragon attribute combination. Relying on this kind of natural environnt, it was impossible for the Aurorus clan to be weak. Birthing an Overlord wouldn't be surprising either. At least along their journey, besides that Mamoswine clan, Kazuya hadn't seen any Pokémon group capable of threatening Aurorus.
But the catch was that both of these species were herbivores. The Mamoswine clan could even survive by eating soil, and neither belonged to the type that would proactively launch attacks on other clans. It was virtually impossible for them to go to war, and they might even form a cooperative, symbiotic relationship.
Kazuya felt this snowfield only had these two clans that could be considered powerful. As for which one was stronger, it was hard to tell, though he leaned towards the Aurorus clan. Even though he hadn't seen the full picture of the Aurorus clan and relied on guesswork for everything about them. However, Kazuya wasn't curious either. Curiosity was useless. In this freezing world of ice and snow, the Dragon Clan mbers couldn't enter anyway, so understanding the combat power and scale of the Aurorus clan held no aning.
After Kazuya's trio departed, a massive head extended from the cave within the mountain below. Just looking at the size of this head, it was larger than the entire body of the Amaura.
She glanced at the two fire dragons disappearing into the sky, then scooped up the little youngster of her clan with her mouth, carrying it back inside.
This little thing actually dared to run around blindly, almost attracting those creatures with fire on their bodies. I must spank its butt tonight.
Afterward, the massive figure inside the cave lowered its neck and crawled out. It was an Overlord Aurorus standing a full seventy ters tall!
This height could almost rival the Master-level Overlord Tyranitar from Kazuya's second life, the one that had almost beaten Lugia to death. Kazuya's guess was indeed correct; the Overlord of this snowfield truly was the leader of the Aurorus clan.
Aurorus looked at the fading firelight on the distant horizon, her brow involuntarily furrowing. It seed so changes had occurred in the south. For the past several decades, that kind of Pokémon had never appeared in this snowfield. Hopefully, it wouldn't affect their ho. Aurorus scanned her surroundings and crawled back into the cave.
Heading to the Rocky Mountains
On the other side, scouting the snowfield was much easier than Kazuya had imagined, primarily because the scale of the snowfield was unexpectedly small. The remaining ti could be used to explore the Rocky Mountain range, which bordered both the swamp and the snowfield.
According to Goodra, his father had told him quite a lot about the Rocky Mountain range before.
The Rocky Mountain Range:
Steep and perilous terrain.
Vast and sweeping scope.
Intense, unforgiving competition.
An imnse diversity of species.
Furthermore, the Rocky Mountain range wasn't entirely made of bare rocks. While such mountains were indeed nurous, there were basically buffer zones like forests, plains, rivers, and lakes between the mountains. It was precisely relying on these buffer zones that a distinct distribution of territories ford in the Rocky Mountain range.
Basically, every mountain peak had its own Alpha clan, and only a sufficiently powerful clan could occupy multiple peaks. Generally speaking, one could judge the strength of the host clan based on the size of the mountain peak.
Their Goodra clan had originally walked out of the Rocky Mountain range, but they hadn't been beaten out; there was a fundantal difference. They chose to leave primarily because the Rocky Mountain range wasn't very suitable for survival, and they truly disliked fighting back and forth with that pack of warmongers every single day. Therefore, they migrated to live in the humid and sticky swamp.
The mont they entered the Rocky Mountain range area, Kazuya knew Goodra's words were entirely accurate. Rather, it was exceptionally fitting.
They were intercepted right off the bat by a group of flying Pokémon. And these Pokémon were no ordinary creatures—they were Aerodactyl, possessing the title of ancient rulers of the sky!
The number wasn't large, around a dozen or so, but Kazuya didn't dare to underestimate them. The aura of these dozen Aerodactyl wasn't weak; their average level was likely not low.
Most crucially... the Aerodactyl of this Ancient Era should be rock dragons, holding a Rock and Dragon attribute combination. They possessed a 4x resistance to Fire-type attacks and a 2x resistance to Flying-type attacks. Conversely, Rock-type moves dealt a devastating 4x super-effective damage against a Charizard.
