Silas was having breakfast in the Pokémon Center cafeteria while reading the latest report issued by the Pokémon League.
It turned out that the whole incident had been orchestrated by Team Rocket not a particularly surprising revelation. After all, while there used to be many dark organizations operating throughout the Kanto region, Team Rocket had gradually risen to a position of dominance in recent years, causing the other groups to fade into obscurity.
As for what had happened to them... well, that went without saying.
Most incidents nowadays could be traced back to Team Rocket in so way, although they generally refrained from harming civilians. Even in this case, there were basically no casualties.
To so people, that was actually sowhat reassuring at least Team Rocket didn't kill indiscriminately.
There were even several rumors floating around that the current boss of Team Rocket was a Champion-tier Trainer unbelievably powerful, and able to maintain a tight grip on the organization from within.
Of course, most people scoffed at this idea and treated it as a joke.
A Champion? What, like Magikarp-level common? A re Elite Four mber would already be impressive enough. And besides, what kind of dark organization cared about ethics and restraint?
Only Silas silently pondered this thought to himself: Giovanni being a Champion actually makes perfect sense after all, he's totally a cheat-level character.
Even setting aside other factors, just the gift of Viridian Forest, The power of Viridian was already an overwhelming advantage.
He continued reading the League's report.
According to the investigation, Team Rocket had used so kind of unusual technological thod to trigger the mass evolution of Magikarp. The exact details weren't disclosed in the public report, but it was stated that Gyarados evolved through this artificial process not only lost their potential to grow stronger, but also beca extrely irritable, aggressive, and filled with violent tendencies.
Their life force aning their lifespan was also significantly shorter than that of a normal Gyarados, based on the League's asurents.
What followed was a strongly worded condemnation from the Pokémon League, demanding that Team Rocket hand over those responsible for the operation, along with all the usual posturing and formalities.
Silas just glanced over that part and skipped it.
They're just saying it for the sake of appearances. Like Team Rocket would actually hand soone over just because they were asked. What a joke it'd be an embarrassnt.
His knife and fork absentmindedly stabbed into the at on his plate.
Technological thod… Could it be that radio wave used on the red Gyarados?
Even though he hadn't watched much of the Pokémon series in his previous life, he still rembered so of the core plot points.
Thinking back to how those Gyarados looked yesterday they really had been unusually enraged, and their eyes had looked especially off.
But then again, why would Team Rocket choose to conduct the experint here? Silas mused.
Generally speaking, pulling sothing like this in a major city like Vermilion was the equivalent of punching the League in the face like pouring salt on a fresh wound. They might as well have walked straight into the Indigo Plateau and slapped the League executives across the face.
No one with a functioning brain would have chosen to do sothing like this here.
Especially not Team Rocket, an organization known for being cunning and intelligent despite being villains.
If they just wanted to test Magikarp evolution, there are plenty of wild rivers and lakes full of Magikarp where they could've done it quietly.
So then… was the real target Lt. Surge?
That was the only possible explanation Silas could think of.
According to what he rembered from his previous life, Lt. Surge was one of Team Rocket's four Executives in so versions of the story.
But he also rembered that in this version, Lt. Surge had once been the captain of the S.S. Anne not an Air Force Major.
More importantly, everything Silas knew about Lt. Surge's personality described him as soone with a strong sense of justice, soone who hated dark organizations with a passion. The idea of him joining one was unthinkable.
So yeah, this really doesn't make sense…
And if Team Rocket was trying to recruit Lt. Surge, how could the League not notice? A little chaos like this wouldn't be enough to mask it.
It's all just a ss. Silas frowned as he tried to piece everything together.
But that was to be expected. After all, this world he lived in was real. It wasn't going to perfectly match the mories from his past life.
At the very least, from what he knew, Kanto's Elite Four weren't out here trying to destroy the world.
Nor did he need to worry that the entire Kanto League was secretly filled with Team Rocket mbers, like so twisted version of Hydra from the comics.
Silas shook his head.
Forget it. No point dwelling on this stuff. With the strength I have right now, even if I figured everything out, I wouldn't be able to intervene. I'd be dead in seconds.
This just wasn't sothing he could get involved in at his current level. When the sky falls, it's the tall ones who have to hold it up.
When the day cos that he's strong enough to rival a Champion, then a lot of things that seem impossible now will stop being problems.
Finishing his breakfast quickly, Silas got up and briskly walked out of the Pokémon Center.
Not long after he left Vermilion City, the TV in the Pokémon Center switched to a comrcial segnt. The host began clearly and confidently announcing the latest business updates.
"According to the latest news, the large cross-regional corporation, Rocket Group, is about to go public.
Their chairman, Giovanni, stated that the na 'Rocket Group' symbolizes the rapid growth of their company and promises better welfare benefits for all employees.
It is known that Chairman Giovanni is also a very powerful Trainer. He is the Gym Leader of Viridian City Gym in the Kanto League, highly skilled at training Ground-type Pokémon, and is affectionately known as 'Giovanni of the Earth.'
Chairman Giovanni ntioned that over the next ten years, Rocket Group will build more orphanages in various cities to provide improved social support for children who have lost their families.

At this mont, Silas was commanding his Boldore in battle against an opponent.
"Boldore!"
Boldore let out a steady cry as it summoned one boulder after another. The rocks rapidly gathered and launched forward.
"Bwooo~!"
The opponent Pokémon moved extrely slowly and had no way to dodge. As it was struck, it extended two Vine Whips from the leafy sides of its body, slashing them hard against Boldore.
However, even after being hit, Boldore didn't flinch. That was such a feeble Grass-type move. Even though the attack had a type advantage, Boldore barely felt it.
"Use Power Gem!"
Following Silas's command, the energy crystals on Boldore's body began to emit a white light. Then, beams of gem-like brilliance shot out from the crystal surfaces.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
After a series of explosions, the opposing Pokémon collapsed onto the ground.
"Nice work, Boldore."
Silas praised his partner and then walked up to the flower-shaped Pokémon that resembled a loudspeaker, collecting the stinger on its head.
This was Weepinbell. The stinger on its head was the storage area for its toxic powder an item of decent value.
