Now reading: Chapter 124 124: The Rainbow Badge and the First Encounter o from Pokemon: Bounty Hunter, a Action novel by Takeiteasy.

The Tangela was instantly knocked flying, rolling across the ground several tis before its eyes turned into swirls.

"Tangela is unable to battle. Blaziken wins. Ayaka, please send out your next Pokémon."

Hearing the referee's declaration, Ayaka felt completely numb.

If she had used her Ivysaur instead, even if she lost, she wouldn't have lost this badly.

"Return, Tangela. Go, Gloom!"

She quickly switched Pokémon and pulled herself together.

"Gloom, use Vine Whip!"

"Blaziken, Fla Wheel!"

The mont the two moves collided, the outco was obvious—Gloom's Vine Whip was instantly reduced to ashes. Then, it was engulfed by the swirling flas, letting out a pained cry.

As the final flickers of fire faded from the battlefield, Gloom's body was covered in black scorch marks. It had lost the ability to fight.

"Gloom is unable to battle.Blaziken wins.

All of Gym Trainer Ayaka's Pokémon are unable to battle. The winner of this Gym Battle is Silas from Viridian City."

The referee dutifully raised the flag and announced the result.

The two trainers recalled their Pokémon and shook hands. Silas then walked off the field to claim his badge at the front desk.

The battle at the Celadon Gym had thoroughly demonstrated why he hadn't invested in training Grass-type Pokémon early on.

The main issue was that Grass-types just weren't strong enough in the early ga. It wasn't just about their limited move pool there were also major disadvantages in type matchups.

At least Fire-types could sotis push through Water-types with their sheer offensive power.

But early-ga Grass-types? Facing type disadvantages usually ant total defeat. You couldn't expect a low-level Grass Pokémon to extinguish fire with moves like Vine Whip or Razor Leaf.

They also lacked sufficient offensive pressure and burst damage, making them unsuitable for the early stages of competitive battling.

Even basic moves like Razor Leaf often required Grass-types to reach level 20 or higher before learning them.

Only a few Pokémon, like Chikorita, with body structures extrely suited to Grass techniques, could learn such moves from the start.

However, Silas felt that it was about ti for him to train a Grass-type or Electric-type Pokémon.

Otherwise, with his current team setup, he would be at a serious disadvantage against Water-type specialists.

He only managed to win at Cerulean Gym thanks to Daisy lack of strength and the advantage of prior preparation. Otherwise, the result could have easily gone the other way.

Tossing the Rainbow Badge in his hand up and down, Silas recalled his conversation with Professor Rown.

"I wonder if the Professor will co through," he thought.

If not, it wasn't a big deal. He had already prepared second, third, and even fourth backup plans.

Opening his badge case, Silas placed the Rainbow Badge inside.

Speaking of which, the Rainbow Badge really did live up to its na. It looked like a flower with seven rainbow-colored petals.

The green petal was noticeably larger than the others, likely symbolizing the Gym's focus on Grass-type Pokémon.

It now sat beside his diamond-shaped gray badge, his water-drop-shaped blue badge, and the sunflower-styled orange badge.

Silas nodded in satisfaction. Good this ant he had completed half of his goal.

Glancing at his wristwatch, he saw that it was now 5 PM. The Gym Battle hadn't taken much ti at all.

After a brief mont of hesitation, Silas headed toward the famous Beauty Street of Celadon City.

Celadon's Beauty Street was ho to many Pokémon breeders and their shops.

There were boutiques specializing in Pokémon appearance design, daycare centers handling Pokémon grooming, and salons where breeders gathered to chat and exchange tips.

Most importantly, top-tier breeders would occasionally give lectures here.

If you were lucky, you could even be selected as a guest to go on stage and ask questions.

As a result, this place was always packed with people.

Especially around this ti of day, many trainers would bring their Pokémon here for care and grooming.

After a session of pampering, they'd go out for a lovely dinner. Pokémon probably loved this kind of carefree lifestyle too.

As Silas walked along the street, he saw long queues outside nearly every shop.

Clicking his tongue in mild annoyance, he resigned himself to waiting in line outside a well-reviewed therapeutic salon.

"Hello there, Trainer! Could you please let us know the types of Pokémon you'd like treatnt for? That way, we can arrange a specialist breeder for a tailored service."

Seeing Silas fall in line at the very end, a smiling staff mber walked up to greet him.

Silas told her the three Pokémon he had with him. The staff mber quickly logged the information into her wrist device and said, "Got it. Please wait about thirty minutes. A specialist will co to call you."

With that, she handed him a number tag.

Silas suddenly felt a strong sense of déjà vu. Was this… like lining up at a famous viral restaurant?

He had to admit no matter what world you're in, working in the service industry was more or less the sa.

The only difference in the Pokémon world was that breeders were held in much higher regard.

Still, the service could use so improvents. Putting out so snacks or sothing would be nice.

Watching a video on his device, Silas stood and waited for the full half-hour.

"Number 34, please get ready!"

Exhaling in relief, he finally heard his number being called.

He handed the number tag to the staff at the door and stepped into the wellness center.

Inside an individual treatnt room sat a gentle-looking woman dressed in a traditional Japanese Yamato Nadeshiko style. Surrounding her were all kinds of tools and equipnt.

"Hello. Please release your Pokémon here," she said softly.

Silas was slightly surprised to see a familiar face, but he promptly released his three Pokémon.

"Braziken!"

"Pidgeot!"

"Boldore!"

The woman looked at the three Pokémon and a flicker of admiration passed through her eyes.

"Trainer, your Pokémon are exceptionally well cared for!"

She praised him sincerely.

She thought about it honestly, even if she were the one raising them, she doubted she could do as well. At least from her perspective, all three Pokémon were in near-perfect condition.

Whether it was their skin, fur, or ntal state, everything about them showed they were no ordinary Pokémon.

"Miss Yukina, you're too kind," Silas said with a modest smile.

The woman across from him was Yukina. She wasn't surprised Silas recognized her.

As one of the most gifted breeders of the past decade under the Pokémon League, Yukina was well-known across the Kanto and Johto regions.

"I'm not being overly generous," Yukina said gently. "Even my ntor would say the sa if he were here."

Her tone remained warm and comforting.

Her hands were swift and precise as she got to work. "Let's start with this little one's care, shall we? Just finished a challenge at Celadon Gym, right?"

She gestured toward Blaziken.

Blaziken obediently sat to the side. The aura that Yukina gave off made it feel completely at ease.

"Alright, sweetheart, stretch out your legs," Yukina spoke in a coaxing tone, as if talking to a child.

Blaziken obediently stretched out both legs, and Yukina picked up her tools and began a detailed inspection.
