Silas grinned slightly, feeling a pang of pain in his heart.
Under the enthusiastic introduction of the store clerk, he bought all sorts of products.
Aside from the Soothe Perfu that increased intimacy, there were also Rock Incense and Floral Incense, which could enhance a Pokémon's control over their energy. These corresponded to Rock-type and Grass-type Pokémon, respectively.
Unfortunately, he was inford that the incenses corresponding to Fire-type and Flying-type Pokémon had no available formula and couldn't be produced yet.
There was also the Purifying Incense, which was ant to be used while Pokémon were resting. It helped them recover energy more quickly and get better rest.
He also picked up a bottle of spice blend a special kind of food seasoning. According to the clerk, it was made with over 50 different spices and had a very strong, spicy aroma. Silas took a sniff and imdiately started drooling.
Honestly, the fact that a perfu shop even sold cooking spices was strange enough, but what was even weirder was that the spice blend sold exceptionally well.
From what Silas observed, nearly every custor who ca into the store walked out with at least one bottle. It just went to show the power of food lovers was limitless.
He mainly bought it for his Blaziken. Fire-type Pokémon loved spicy food with that numbing heat. Giving the little guy a flavorful change now and then was definitely not because he wanted to eat it himself (serious face).
Just those simple things cost him nearly two million. Of course, the perfus and incense were enough to last for the next half year.
The price was reasonable enough. For a monopoly product, this was definitely considered fair. Silas comnted on this.
After all, their effects only amounted to icing on the cake nothing ga-changing. One couldn't expect too much.
But as long as it was useful, no trainer would be stingy about such expenses.
He first returned to the Pokémon Center and dropped off the large bags of items he had bought. Then Silas headed to Celadon Gym.
The appointnt confirmation had co through while he was shopping.
He had to admit their administrative efficiency was impressively high.
From the outside, Celadon Gym looked like a giant Vileplu (which evolves from Gloom using a Leaf Stone). Upon entering, all he could see were flowers everywhere.
Looking up, the ceiling was made entirely of transparent glass, allowing sunlight to pour into the building.
It was basically a massive indoor greenhouse. Truly fitting for a Grass-type Gym.
This ti, there was no waiting room. He was taken directly into the battlefield.
"Hello, Trainer Silas Alaric. I'm your opponent for today's Gym battle—Ayaka."
Across from him stood a young girl in a miniskirt, her face expressionless, though her voice was gentle and polite.
Uh... Silas blinked. So stiff. So professional.
But this was what a normal Gym staff mber should be like.
The previous Gym battles he'd fought who were those people again? If it wasn't the deputy leader of the Gym, it was the big sister-type of the Gym. Or worse, the actual Gym Leader. No wonder those felt more relaxed.
A real Gym staff mber had to battle ten or more tis a day, every day. Who could handle that?
Not to ntion, they often lost. Even the most patient person would struggle to maintain their composure after a while.
It was like playing a ga for seven or eight hours and losing every single match without a single win. There was no way you could keep facing that reality every day without snapping. At the very least, you'd end up smashing a keyboard or two.
What made it worse was that it wasn't even because you were bad it was because your performance was restricted. That made it even harder to accept.
"The rules for today's match are two versus two. The challenger will send out their Pokémon second. The detailed rules are as follows..."
Listening to the referee ramble on with a bunch of aningless chatter, Silas felt incredibly bored.
He looked over at the girl in front of him and couldn't help but admire her. Hearing the referee say the exact sa thing a dozen tis a day had to be a skill of its own.
"He's looking at ! That handso guy is looking at !" Ayaka scread in her mind, her heart racing.
Just now, she had subconsciously nodded in greeting. The mont she saw his face, she regretted not being a little more polite.
If she could get his contact info afterward, she could brag about it to her girlfriends for days!
But with the cold look she gave him earlier, how was she supposed to ask now? She internally wailed in frustration.
The Celadon Gym was staffed entirely by won, and their daily conversations were even more unrestrained and wild than outsiders could imagine.
If it weren't for their Gym Leader Erika always dressing in a kimono and carrying herself like a refined lady, setting an example for them all, the atmosphere might've been even more chaotic.
Silas, of course, had no idea what thoughts lay beneath her frosty expression. He was still wondering why the referee hadn't finished explaining the rules yet.
"…And that concludes the rules for this battle. Now, will the Celadon Gym's Ayaka send out her Pokémon!"
Finally, the referee was done.
"Show them your charm, Tangela!"
Ayaka imdiately changed her expression, replacing her cold look with a sweet smile as she sent out her Pokémon.
Silas was even more impressed. The staff at the Celadon Gym truly wore their passion for Pokémon on their sleeves!
His gaze sharpened. But no matter what, the only ones who'd walk away victorious… would be and my Pokémon.
"Let's go, Blaziken! Show them your strength!"
A burst of light erupted, and Blaziken erged with a loud cry.
"Blaziken!"
The Fire- and Fighting-type Pokémon let out a sharp battle cry to pump itself up. Its previously closed eyes snapped open, releasing an astonishing aura of power.
Silas could feel the fire in his own blood rising.
Not even watching Boruto in his last life had him this hyped!
Blaziken turned to look at its opponent. Wait… was that… a yarn ball?
Images of its childhood toy imdiately popped into its mind.
Tangela's entire body was covered in thick, blue vines. Its face was hidden beneath the vines, revealing only a pair of eyes. Its body was round, and it had red, boot-like feet. Its arms were invisible beneath the vines, which writhed like little snakes all over its body.
Blaziken shook its head hard, trying to get rid of the ntal image.
No way am I hugging a yarn ball to sleep tonight. That'd give nightmares.
Silas shouted with fiery passion, "Blaziken, use Flathrower!"
"Blaz!" Blaziken focused itself, then unleashed a powerful stream of fire from its mouth.
Ayaka rolled her eyes. Fire-types had a natural advantage over Grass-types, and this particular Blaziken had an outrageously high registered level.
Looks like I'm going to lose again… she sighed inwardly.
But I'm not going to hand over the badge that easily.
"Tangela, use Bind!" she commanded.
Despite being struck by the Flathrower and crying out in pain, Tangela endured. Two vines quickly shot out from its body, snaking across the floor and wrapping tightly around Blaziken's legs. The constriction began to hurt it slightly.
"Blaze Kick!" Silas quickly ordered.
If this dragged on, Tangela could use powder moves or poison along the vines that could get troubleso.
Flas burst from Blaziken's legs as it activated the move. The vines instantly turned black from the intense heat.
With a slight twist, the charred vines crumbled into ash.
Blaziken kicked off the ground with one foot, and before Tangela could react, it was already face-to-face with its opponent.
"Pia! Pa!"
Two fiery whip-kicks landed squarely on Tangela's body.
