Now reading: Chapter 73 73: Extra Tasks and Battle Training from Pokemon: Bounty Hunter, a Action novel by Takeiteasy.

Aside from the very few tis when traveling could be considered relaxed and enjoyable, most Trainers and Pokémon spent their days in monotonous training and fierce battles.

The group exchanged smiles, everything understood without the need for words.

Beep—

Silas' wristwatch chid, causing him to pause.

It couldn't be a ssage from Nurse Joy; after all, he had only just sat down.

Then who would be sending him a ssage?

Curious, Silas tapped his watch to open the notification and began reading the information.

After a mont, he looked up with a knowing expression.

The ssage was from Professor Carolina. The full text was quite long, but the gist of it was that she wanted Silas to temporarily teach so lower-grade children as a Breeder at a academy near Cerulean City.

Silas had even asked about the fact that he didn't actually hold an official Breeder's license. Professor Carolina simply waved her hand dismissively and said that with her endorsent, it wasn't necessary at all.

During their week of interaction aboard the ship, Professor Carolina had co to highly appreciate Silas' abilities and attitude toward learning. After discussing the matter with Professor Oak and informing him of the situation, she strongly recomnded Silas.

Professor Oak, well aware of his assistant and close friend's character, only needed to briefly look into Silas' profile before readily agreeing.

Although Silas wasn't aware of all the details, and Professor Carolina had downplayed the matter lightly, he knew very well what her support ant.

Otherwise, with Professor Oak's reputation, the mont he announced that he needed a Breeder for sothing, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that 99% of Breeders would be eager to help.

And not just anyone could qualify for such an opportunity, especially not lower-level Breeders.

After sincerely expressing his gratitude to Professor Carolina, Silas understood that he was about to beco even busier.

He needed to prepare an outstanding teaching plan to handle this task properly.

As for whether there would be any paynt absolutely none! It was purely voluntary!

Teaching children, the future and hope of the League, could never involve accepting compensation.

Was Silas the kind of person to demand paynt for that?

Afterward, he had so casual conversations with a few Trainers from regions like Sinnoh and Hoenn, sharing their travel experiences and broadening his horizons.

It had to be said the cultural differences across various regions were truly imnse. No wonder so many Trainers were fascinated by exploring the different parts of the world.

Many marvels could only be truly understood through firsthand experience.

For example, Silas had always known that the Sinnoh region was divided into two parts by Mount Coronet, and that Shellos, depending on its habitat, would display drastically different appearances in form and color.

Shellos and Gastrodon exemplified regional separation, with the eastern Shellos being blue and the western Shellos pink.

However, since the regions were so far apart, Silas had never personally witnessed this fascinating phenonon.

A Trainer from Sinnoh enthusiastically showed off his Pokémon to the group including Silas displaying four different forms of Shellos and Gastrodon.

In his own words, he had no particular fondness for other species but had a unique love for them alone.

When he said this, observing the interaction between him and his four Pokémon—the intimacy shining in their eyes—it was impossible not to feel amazed at the magical relationships brought about by the existence of Pokémon in this world.

anwhile, a Trainer from Hoenn shared videos showcasing the unique natural wonder of his hotown the Subrged Islands.

Watching his videos, everyone could only marvel at the breathtaking splendor of nature.

Ti ticked by as one Trainer after another, leading their fully-rested Pokémon, bid farewell and departed.

Soon, it was Silas' turn.

He greeted the remaining Trainers, expressing a hope to et again for future exchanges, then returned to his room with his three little ones.

After completing the evening's feeding routine as usual, and as his Pokémon drifted off into slumber, Silas continued studying diligently.

For Trainers, besides their family and their Pokémon who were often closer than family this kind of solitary but occasionally sociable existence was the norm.

Only a rare few Trainers had teammates they could trust completely, willing to entrust their lives and adventures to each other especially those who specialized in double battles.

The lights in Silas' room remained constantly on, creating the illusion that they had never been extinguished.

"Combusken, target its torso and use Fire Punch!"

"Cha!"

Following the commands from Trainer and Pokémon, the opponent quickly let out a pained cry.

"Scyth.. "

However, the Scyther — revered as a warrior and a ninja among Bug-types possessed an incredibly tenacious willpower. Even under the assault of a super-effective Fire Punch, it stubbornly clung to consciousness.

Gritting its teeth through the pain, it unleashed a rapid Double Hit.

It didn't understand why the strange-looking Pokémon before it one it had never seen in the forest was so incredibly fast, easily dodging even its proud, swift combos.

After a few probing attacks, its rich hunting experience told it: this battle was not going to end well.

Yet the pride in its very bones kept it standing, pushing it to launch attack after attack against its opponent.

Quick Attack, Double Team, Slash, Brick Break, Double Hit...

One after another, a rapid string of moves that would have overwheld most Pokémon was unleashed. But the damage to the opponent was minimal. Its enemy was moving faster and faster, making all of Scyther's precise strikes land on empty air.

Combusken calmly blocked the Double Hit with alternating Thunder Punch and Fire Punch, then landed two out of three of its devastating Triple Punch directly onto the Scyther.

The Scyther's old and battered body couldn't endure the onslaught. It lost its ability to battle, yet sohow, by sheer willpower, remained upright without collapsing.

Silas shook his head regretfully.

Not because Combusken had killed the Scyther in this world, battles between Pokémon were governed by strict rules. The Scyther had simply lost the ability to continue fighting.

If the attacks had continued, it could indeed have led to a fatal injury, but few Trainers would ever push that far.

As for battles of life and death among wild Pokémon in nature Trainers never intervened. It was an iron rule established over countless years.

What Silas truly lanted was the Scyther's potential.

Judging from its solitary lifestyle, its physical condition, and its battle experience, Silas guessed this Scyther was likely a forr pack leader defeated and driven out much like an old wolf in his previous life.

Through the years, its mastery over its techniques had reached an almost perfect level.

Its reactions and instincts in battle were extraordinary, clearly outclassing Combusken by a wide margin in terms of experience.

During the fight, Silas noticed several instances where the Scyther had predicted Combusken's attacks ahead of ti but due to its aging body, it simply couldn't dodge anymore.

Combusken's victory was mostly due to its Speed Boost Ability. Even so, the Scyther's experienced strikes had forced Combusken into several unnecessary mistakes during the battle.

After thinking it over, Silas carefully moved the fallen Scyther to one side.
