Silas walked down the street with a trace of satisfaction at the corners of his mouth. Honestly, the feeling of being a teacher for the first ti wasn't bad at all—especially the sense of accomplishnt after solving problems for his students. It felt amazing.
After checking the ti, he headed to the school cafeteria for lunch. The food was excellent; the chef's skills were no worse than his own.
After that, he made his way to the legendary logistics office where he could be reimbursed for the costs of training over the past seven days.
Upon hearing the reason for his visit, the staff quickly confird his identity.
"Silas Alaric, Breeder. Class 1 of the Junior Trainees. Daily subsidy: 1,000,000 Alliance Credits. A total of 7,000,000 for the week."
What a wealthy school. Even a temporary instructor for the lower grades gets such a high subsidy. Silas suddenly felt a little tempted to beco a teacher here permanently seed like a great gig.
But then again, small-class instruction from a high-level Breeder was always expensive. After all, experience and knowledge are priceless.
Although he hadn't taken the official Breeder certification exam yet, Silas was confident in his abilities.
He shook his head. No, his goal was to beco the strongest Pokémon Trainer. Teaching and nurturing others could wait until he'd achieved that.
From the window of the principal's office, Principal Gota sipped his tea while watching Silas leave the logistics office and head back to the dorms. This student really wasn't bad. Aside from occasionally lacking social tact, there weren't any major issues.
That's also why Principal Gota had secretly given Silas a little help behind the scenes.
As for the subsidy what, did Silas really think just having Professor Brich's recomndation would be enough to warrant a daily subsidy of 1,000,000? That wasn't realistic. After all, at this point, Silas was still just an average mid-tier Trainer.
Even with Professor Birch's endorsent and the support of Pewter City Gym, there were people like him in every region every year. That didn't prove much. Being promising was easy; proving it was harder.
Other than his stunning 98% mission completion rate as a bounty hunter, Silas didn't hold that much value at the mont.
So Gota had simply taken a bit from his personal savings as a small investnt in his student. No need to tell him—it was just sothing a teacher ought to do.
For soone like him, it was pocket change.
"…Speaking of which, isn't my second brother's youngest grandson about to co of age? I should prepare a gift for the kid. What was his na again… Jas, wasn't it?"
Chewing on his tea leaves, Gota sighed. He really was getting old—couldn't even rember nas properly anymore.
Back in his room, Silas sat on the couch grinning foolishly for a bit as he looked at the newly received 7,000,000 Alliance Credits.
But he quickly sighed. That still wasn't nearly enough.
He took out his notebook where he tracked all his expenses. Even though he had a photographic mory, it was still better to write everything down.
His recent spending included Berries, training ground rentals, and Breeding materials for his three Pokémon. Not even counting the special rocks he'd bought in advance for Boldore, he had already spent 265,000,000 over the 40 days at White Cape.
Silas shook his leg, his expression unchanged. This was nothing—just pocket change.
Counting the newly received 7,000,000, his current total funds amounted to 151,832,000 Alliance Credits. Add in the Leaf Stone he had from Brock, and the Charcoal carried by his Blaziken—his total assets barely crossed the 500,000,000 mark.
As for the special rocks for Boldore, he still had 25,000,000 worth left—enough to last ten more days. He also had enough Berries and Breeding materials stocked for half a month. Not bad at all.
He closed his eyes in pain. When would this ever end?
But there was no helping it. If he wanted to quickly raise his strength, he had to spend this kind of money. Otherwise—how would you get stronger without spending money?
In fact, for an average Trainer from a civilian background, this would be the accumulation phase of growth. It usually took years, sotis even more than a decade, to go from three Pokémon to a full six-mber team with evenly matched strength.
So people, even in the end, never managed to get six high-potential Pokémon and ended up stuck in a diocre stage of progress.
Of course, for Silas—if the only problem was money—everything else could be worked out.
Tapping on the table, he racked his brains for a quick way to make money.
But he gave up shortly after. The Pokémon League had long established a complete set of laws and regulations to cover all kinds of wild ideas he might have. After all, he was a law-abiding citizen!
Not that there were no legal ways to make money—it's just that most weren't feasible for him at the mont, especially with his current status.
Silas glanced at the calendar. Forty-eight days left. Including the ti it would take for results to co out, he had about two months.
In just two more months, he'd have a chance to make a huge profit. All he had to do was get through these two months.
Anyway, at his current inco rate, he could easily afford to support the training and developnt of his three Pokémon.
The only issue was that when it ca ti to participate in the Indigo Plateau Conference, his team might end up unbalanced. The three additional Pokémon he'd raise later would have much less training ti and likely wouldn't beco real combat power in ti.
He sighed again. Silas felt like he'd been sighing more and more lately. Life wasn't easy.
Then, taking the three well-fed Pokémon with him, he stepped outside toward the training grounds. Training was not sothing he could afford to slack on.
His schedule for the week only included one day of classes, alternating between morning and afternoon sessions. The rest of the ti was his to use freely, which was quite flexible.
It was the perfect chance to take advantage of the school's advanced training facilities. External facilities of similar caliber would cost 100,000 Poké per day at minimum. This school's ones? At least 200,000 per day. That ant seven days of use was worth 1.4 million Poké. Jackpot.
Half an hour later, Silas dejectedly returned to his room.
The school's battle arenas and training grounds were reserved for interdiate and advanced students. If a teacher wanted to use them, they'd have to show up early in the morning or late at night after dinner.
Back in his room, he changed into his exploration gear. Less than ten minutes later, Silas headed out again—but this ti, his destination wasn't the training grounds. It was outside the school.
He had double-checked earlier: both he and his Pidgeot were registered, so as long as they took off and landed in front of his dorm, there wouldn't be any issues.
Putting on his wind goggles, Silas climbed onto Pidgeot's back and pointed silently toward a distant mountain range. Pidgeot let out a soft cry in response, showing that it understood.
Then, it spread its wings and soared into the sky, taking Silas with it.
Stumbling a bit as he got off Pidgeot's back, Silas looked at the mountain range ahead of him. He gave his cheeks a few light slaps to fire himself up.
"Take a break, Pidgeot. Co on out, Boldore, and Blaziken!"
Looking at the two large Pokémon in front of him, he smiled.
"Well then, I'm counting on you two later!"
"Dangoro!"
"Blaaaze!"
Hearing the confident cries of his Pokémon, Silas was very pleased. That's the kind of spirit he wanted to see.
"Let's move!"
