"Fletchling, get back here!"
Shouting in annoyance, Serena chased the flying type through the streets of Vaniville, "Why do you always do this?" she growled, sliding into a skid as her technical pokemon ascended over a row of shops, and beyond into a small park.
In his beak, her pink purse dangled tauntingly.
He just loved to lead her on a rry chase and do anything he could to annoy her. More the fool was her for letting him out in public like this.
With so many people around and visiting their quaint little town, no way he could have resisted getting up to mischief.
And his favourite brand of mischief was causing her problems!
Like stealing her purse when she was about to pay for her al. She had to leave Shauna to handle the bill. Tierno and Trevor had left ahead of them, but had left their share at least.
Unlike her because of this little twerp of a bird!
Tierno wanted to get so last minute training in before the tournant started. Where as, Trevor had co across so news article from Kanto, about so guy nad Roy who had been washed out to sea and tragically passed away.
She hadn't even got the chance to feel bad for said person because of Fletchling!
Panting, face flushed and sweating noticeably she was in a right foul mood when she made it into the park.
'Where are you, you little nace!?' she growled inwardly.
As she searched through the forest, finding no sign or feather of the little nace - and for a mont thought Fletchling had faked her out and returned to their ho, she heard a voice.
"You're a right cheeky one aren't you?"
A boys voice, thick with an accent that reminded her of so people from Galar. She quickly looked around the tree out of slight curiosity-
And her eyes widened as she saw a young boy, a few years younger than her going by his face. Cute, with spiky sideswept brown hair and pale blue eyes, dressed in a sleeveless white hoodie, baggy black pants tucked into stylish black boots with faint dark blue markings that looked just lovely.
The most stand out things about him though, that drew are eyes. Were the thick red tallic bracelet on his wrist, and a gleaming black shiny pokeball hanging on a chain around his neck.
Oh, that and how muscly he was. Wow.
But more importantly, and the reason why her eyes widened. Was the annoying Fletchling she was looking for, resting quite the thing on the boys wrist. Acting all innocent as the boy gently ruffled the back of his evil little feathered neck!
Sothing about him was oddly familiar, but that wasn't important! The demon bird was.
"I don't think this is yours though, is it?" the boy snorted in amusent as he stopped petting Fletchling and gently pulled the purse from his beak.
And Fletchling just let him!
She'd have to wrestle with him to get it back even after catching him usually. Her eye almost twitched as she watched Fletchling give a sheepish barking chuckle, rubbing the back of his head with one wing.
As if to say 'aw shucks'.
Where was that attitude with her!? Where was the smug look? The laughing squawk of mockery?
She knew it wasn't just her, even if she was Fletchling's favourite target to annoy. He did it to everyone, besides her mother at least.
Who was this kid?
"That's cuz it's mine, as is the nace roosting on your arm," Serena said, making her way around the tree, "That little annoyance stole it from to lead on a chase."
The boy turned to her at her voice, and his eyes widened a bit as he looked at her for so reason, a startled looking expression appearing on his face, "Ah sorry, didn't an to startle you." she raised a hand.
"Ah…" the boy gaped at her for a mont, before closing his mouth and shaking his head. An easy grin appearing on his face, "Don't worry about it. No harm done."
He held the purse up to her, "You've got a bit of a hellion on your hands with this one, huh?" he chuckled, inclining his head at Fletchling who had the nerve to preen proudly.
As if it were a complint!
Serena took the purse gratefully, eyeing Fletchling in disbelief, "That's underselling it, he's never like this. You wouldn't believe how bad he is sotis," she shook her head, "How can you even tell with how good he's being for you?"
The boy's chuckle turned into full laugh, "Let's just say I'm a bit of an expert on smug birds," he gave her a wink, his eyes drifting to Fletchling a mont later, "And this one definitely fits the bill."
"You're not wrong there," Serena rolled her eyes as she put her purse away in her skirt pocket, and while her hand was in there, settled on a certain pokeball. She brought her hand back out, pokeball aid, and with a press of a button, red light washed over Fletchling who gave her a squawk of annoyance, before he was returned, "Yeah well, you deserve it." she stuck her tongue out.
The boy snorted in amusent.
"So you're a trainer then?" she asked as she stuffed the pokeball in her pocket, eyes lingering on the expensive looking pokeball hanging from the chain around his neck, "You're awfully young." she noted.
And was impressed. So young, and he looked like he already well knew what he was doing with his life, huh? She was a little jealous.
"Yeah, I got my license a few years early, it's a bit of a thing," the boy smiled easily, and held his hand out, "I'm Jord by the way, nice to et you."
She smiled back, placed her hand in his, "I'm Serena, nice to et you to…" she trailed off for a second as he brought her hand up and pressed his lips against the back of, "Oh!" she uttered, in surprise.
He gave her a cheeky wink as he let go of her hand, "Sorry, couldn't resist. I heard that was a popular greeting in Kalos, and I just got here, so figured I'd try it out."
Her cheeks heated a bit, and she couldn't help but giggle a little, "You're bold huh?"
